Now and then I enjoy posting a thread to show some of the new pieces I have added to my collection... While the majority of these are new, this time I am showing a few that are older but I finally have nice photo's of.. The pictures done by Mitchell Cohen from Prairie Digital, and the ones by Jim Cooper from Sharp by Coop are signed, and the photo's done by myself have no signature... Thank you both, you are the best....

Here are a few interframes from a couple of my favorite makers of this style... Steve Hoel, Scott Sawby and Jack Busfield... The Hoel's came to me via friend Martin Reingold.. The Hoel with the quartz and lapis has a rare grind for this handle style...

Here are three daggers, the newer ones being made by forum member Vladimir Kolenko.. The third dagger was made for me David Broadwell about 4 years ago, and it really is personal favorite out of my collection..

Next are two lock-backs by long time makers Ray Cover Sr. and Chuck Gedraitis.. The well made, non art style lock-backs, will always have some room in my collection.. The Cover knife is larger than normal from him.. Blade is 4+".. Chuck's knife about 3.5"

This next knife is a very large interframe by the late Joe Kious.. It has the boot grind with Jasper inlays.. Brian Hochstrat did the beautiful engraving for me... Thank you Brian..

Here are a few new flippers and automatics.. Quick release knives have fascinated me since I was a kid.. I just dig them.. The first is a Q-36 model from RJ Martin, that has recently found a new home... The ivory micarta knife, with the bowie style blade was made by Jason Clark... He uses the IKBS system, and the knife is smooth and very solid..

Here's the automatics... These are really large knives... (Big enough for the special, "Mega Folders", section that Dudley has in his collection...) The ivory handled Vallotton is a D/A sub-hilt with scale type of release... The Reese Weiland, all damascus piece, opens hard, and is just a mean folder..

I'll close this first posting with an older "Prisma" model by forum member, and knife maker Gus Cecchini.. GTC is a force now, and his hallmarks are precision builds and cutting edge design...

Have a wonderful Memorial Day... To those of you that have served, or currently serve, you have my respect, and gratitude....

Best Regards, Rich Slaughter

Hello Rich!

Beautiful all around! Thanks a lot for sharing with us! I especially love the daggers!

All the best,
Alex

Rich, You are my hero. Great additions - and such a variety! Hard to pick a favorite. Maybe the engraved Kious, or that Prisma.

Will you consider adopting me? :D

I will finish the post with a few more from my fixed blade section and then one last large art folder which is brand new....

The fixed blades a diverse group... I have shown this Bill Ankrom fighter once before but it was in one of Roger P's. threads... Remember the recent one with the title "Stag and Damascus"?

Here's a folding dagger by Kansei Matsuno

Here are two more daggers.. A smaller boot version by Jack Busfield with really deep sculpting on the bolster by Mitchell Moschetti... The send dagger was engraved by Ron Skaggs and is an older piece by Willie Rigney... I personally have never seen another dagger where Willy used wood for the handle... I love this piece...

The newest art folder is this one by Howard Hitchmough... It has a 3.75" dagger grind blade using Damasteel... Very nice MOP on this one, and it is a mid lock....

Have a great weekend, and I want to thank again all of you that have, or are currently in service to our country.... You have our appreciation and respect...

Hope you enjoyed my post.... Best Regards, Rich Slaughter

Hey there neighbor!

For me, the daggers and the one by Bill Ankrom are my favorites.

Bob

These are all great pieces. However, the first 7 pictured (Hoel, Sawby, Busfield, Kolenko, Broadwell) along with the Ankrom fighter all really shine to my eyes, outstanding work by those makers:thumbup:

Rich, your image making is top drawer and as usual, your collection never ceases to amaze me. Thanks so much for sharing the wonderful knives you have collected over the years for all of us to enjoy thru photos.

BTW -- I hope you don't mind my sharing another Willie Rigney with a wood handle.

What a kind bunch of comments... Thanks to each one of you...

Murray, certainly I don't mind you posting your Rigney dagger to make a point... I wrote my sentence in such a way to say I thought they were rare, but I knew there must be other examples of his work with wood handles out there... I was able recently to buy a true blue "Art" dagger by him, engraved by Julie W. that at the moment is the prize of my collection... It is so elegant, but I will have to wait and post it down the road because it needs to be properly photographed.. Man, I wish he would "un-retire"... Maybe some day... One of my other favorite makers, Billy Imel came out of retirement after a lengthy absence so it does happen once in awhile...

Thank you Bob B. for checking in.. I was very sorry to learn of your Mothers passing.. I hope you are doing well... Our sleepy little seaside sure was busy this three day Memorial weekend wasn't it?

Thanks again everyone who commented and safe travels to those of you going to the upcoming Blade Show.... Best Regards, Rich Slaughter

wow what an amazing collection... and these are just the recent additions? The two lockbacks really caught my eye. Very sleek and clean. And the "Prism" folder too. I love the flash of color in that one and the contrast of the red with the dark damascus blade.

Puling this one back up.

I'm a collector too, and have a stable of dissimilar knives. There is something real about having a 'focus', and there is also something just as satisfying about owning diverse pieces.

The lasso around these is quality.

What great images, too! Rich is very humble, but he's WAY above average on his clarity and lighting. I bow to Mitch for his dreamy looks and off-the-page sharpness.

Good thread. :) Rich, thanks for the opportunity and kind words.
