New Colors for Old Models

With my very limited budget I decided to get the complete blackout 4 Max Scout and an OD/Black blade Espada XL and they are awesome. I wish the green was slightly more dark but I compared it to older OD scales and it is the same, so it’s probably just the lighting I was in when I opened the box or whatever.
In any case, these will be great for people that want to avoid the high prices of the sold out models. They are both AUS 10A which I feel is a good steel, just my opinion. Very happy with them!

I hope more options are to come. It would be cool to see a blue with black hardware Espada like Lynn carried recently at blade show west (or was it East?)

And for that matter, if they would bring back the Broken Skull in that blue color man I would jump on one or two asap. Even if they did that with the Range Boss I would be happy. I didn’t seize the opportunity when the blue ones were listed on a major retailer a few months ago because I had no idea how awesome the Broken Skull was. I wish I got 3 of them :(

That’s my coffee update and rant fine gentlemen of the Cold Steel board :)
Happy Friday

The blue handle/black blade combination is my favorite color scheme on folders, and the Espada is one of my favorite models, so I had to check this out. It was a Blade Show West interview by SMKW. The knife looks awesome!

Unfortunately, it's a personal customization by Andrew Demko. I sure would like to see them produce a Large Espada in this configuration. I'd buy multiples!

I found it interesting that Lynn's carry knives at the show were:

1) A customized XL Espada (that you can't buy)
2) An out-of-production San Mai III Laredo Bowie (that you can't find) in a customized leather sheath (that you can't have)
3) An out-of-production Broken Skull (that you can't find)
4) Two stock Vaquero Voyagers, neither of which is his own Signature model (he probably can't afford to carry the Signature version anymore, either!)

His carry selection isn't exactly doing GSM any marketing favors!

I also noticed that he was not carrying:

1) His Signature Oyabun
2) His Signature Spartan
3) His Signature Leatherneck Bowie

Hmm, it almost makes me wonder if those signature editions aren't just moneymaking offerings capitalizing on Lynn's name and taking advantage of Cold Steel collectors....

The Broken Skull really is an under-appreciated knife. Its weight-to-size/strength ratio, combined with its higher-end materials construction, make it one of my first choices when I carry light. If you're able to find one at a reasonable price, get it. It won't disappoint.

Yes that’s the one!!
You’re right. All discontinued or custom stuff and none of the ‘signature’ line. Interesting.

And I will search for a Broken Skull. I’ve been passively looking (due to no funds) and because they haven’t really been around on the secondary market, there is a lot of heavy pricing for them right now. It should go down a bit once more people have them for sale. There are quite a lot in existence so I think people are holding onto them to sell more towards Christmas time to fund their holiday shopping and such.
