i just got a new PE Cricket in the mail and i am loving it. it is my 3rd spyderco. the others are a SS PE Dragonfly and a PE Native from Wal-Mart. I love this little knife. I've been carrying a Vic Tinker for the past few weeks but I missed the one-hand opening of my Spyderco and other knives. I don't really need a big lockback knife. I thought the Cricket would be the perfect companion to the Tinker. I can hand the Tinker to anybody who asks for a knife and keep the Cricket safe in my pocket.

I love the reverse S curve blade. I do crossfit (www.crossfit.com) every morning and have some major callouses on my hands from all the pullups and olympic lifts. The reverse S is the perfect blade shape to shave off the callouses and save my hands.

My only complaint is that I'm usually a right-hand tip-up person. I might have to contact STR but I might get used to it. Is there much of a chance of the Cricket opening up in my front right pocket? I don't want to lose a chunk of hand when reaching for my spare change one day!!

I would post pics but I'm trying to hide the new addition from my wife for a few days. Hopefully she won't be able to tell the difference between it and the old Dragonfly...

I would suggest keeping the pivot snug. Mine opened in my pocket once when the pivot was loose and ran the tip right in the end of my finger. Ouch:eek:

Did the same thing, keeping the pivot nice and snug.

Didn't open once in my RFP. Heck, I even sleep with the knife clipped to my sleeping sweats:D

carry it in the waist band, you'll harly notice it's here, it will be a lot more discreet, and you won't have any risk of cutting yourself while looking for something in your pocket.

BTW, you need a serrated one, it's even more kickass!

i tried it in the waist band and didn't really like that. now it is in my back right pocket and i am liking that. i keep the SAK tinker in the front pocket and the Cricket in the back pocket.

congrats on the Cricket bennyG19

The Cricket is a great little knife. It was my second Spyderco, right after the Meerkat. Perfect for clipping in an inside suit jacket pocket or even as a money clip.
