Hey All,
Been showin' off some knife porn on here and had a new addition to the family arrive today. Bruce Culberson and myself, after getting the full sized knife pictured, started talking about a necker setup(his first i believe with a firesteel attachement.) and here are the results! Also talking our way through a stainless G-10 and kydex setup up fillet knife with "talks" of him trying his hand at a hatchet sometime later this summer, my fingers are crossed. Great hardworking guy, hunter and outdoorsman and ofcourse a hobby knife maker (or so he claims i'd say that undershoots his talents.)
it arrived just in time today to come out with me for some quick pics and fishing.

just under 6 inches long
2.5inch blade 1/8th thick steel.
rosewood scales (1/8th thick with black liners real slender knife)
copper pins.
textured finish
black liners

this thing is a beauty. kydex sheath with built in matching firesteel. can't go wrong with this setup! and it is lazer sharp.

FYI the sheath is designed so the firesteel loop is integral. it cannot be removed like a traditional loop. though this allows me some play to use different firesteels to my liking, heat up the kuydex and remold it larger or smaller.

this thing locks up like a bank vault. i asked Bruce to start familiarizing himself here, maybe showing some "in progress" pics or some of his bear hunting pics from last week. hopefully he will do so. Made by us for us, WS&S style.

gonna start putting it through its paces along side it's bigger brother and will do a full review with working photos after a week or so of beating it up.

One pic of the area i was in, just for kicks. beside a Breeden bushcrafter and Bruce's other blade for copmarison.

Very nice knife and thanks for sharing! I am waiting the arrival of my first knife from Bruce anxiously - should be here tomorrow. He really is one hell of a decent guy.

Ray- Thanks she is definetly a hard-use knife for me.
Klammer- Hope you post when you get it! i'm betting you'll love it.

very nice.. i like that necker a lot... so far, i seem to like just about all of the blades that i have seen of Bruce's...:)

I like the patina on the knife and the toad too. Its like a classy PSK!

i like those blades.
i have a wharncliff from Bruce that has been seeing lots of belt time lately.
everything from dressing out a turkey for memorial days bbq to slicing apples to digging out wood slivers.
i put in a thumb ramp and love it. sorry i ground out your makers stamp, bruce.

This was based on his "kids knife" posted in the maker's section i believe you're referencing. it's got a longer handle though i believe which developed through some talks with bruce. i know he has some more firesteels coming in now on shipment too if you're interested in this kind of setup hopefully bruce will chime in with more details. great to work with i'm sure he can help ya out.

Thanks for posting pics of your new knife goatariba! And you're right this was based on the kids knife that I made, but with a slightly longer handle (althought the handle is short). The whole knife is a short slim package for neck carry. For my hands it was three and a half finger grip (my pinky finger was partly on the sloped back part of the handle).

Here is a head on photo of the bear (the side view has been my avatar for a couple weeks). This isn't a hudge bear, but a good representative, mature boar for the area:

Here are some in-progress pics of Klammer's knife (I'll wait for him to post the finished pic which will enclude the sheath he's making for it):

After heattreat, with a caper that's getting elk antler:

After finish grind and handsanding, ready to be handled (note I put many holes in the handle to help the balance of the 5/32" bar stock):

The balance point is just behind the index finger - if my memory is right.

edgemaster: Feel free to re-customize to meet your needs, however you may have decreased its collectors value! LOL!!!. I'll give you shout when I get a chance to make some more of the neckers.

Bruce
