I just thought I'd throw this up there. Aside from all these crazy folder & karambit things. I still like doing the daggers.

This one has a 4 1/2" blade of 1084/15N20/L-6/nickle in a ladder pattern, 360 layers. The guard is N-S and the handle is African Black Ivory wood from Celia at African Supply and Alt. Ivory. The stainless/copper mosaic pin is from Rene Roy.

That's sweet J! I'm really starting to like this African Blackwood over Ebony. But I have a spitload of ebony! Well, I don't use it very much so I could probably stand to start watching for some nice Af Blackwood.

You say that's alternative ivory? I'd like to know more about it, and more about your supplier. I have a block of something called that I got at Blade a few years ago but since I only have the one piece I'm reluctant to use it for anything. You know how that goes. Maybe having access to more would let me break loose on the piece I have.

Anyway, beautiful knife. I love NS even though I've been using stainless for everyting. There's something so traditional and warm about NS that nothing else can equal. That knife just trips all my happy thoughts. Thanks for sharing.

You can get all you want from K&G. It's an acrylic product I believe, and you have to use a soft touch when finishing/buffing, but it looks very nice. I used some on a couple of daggers years ago and liked it.

They've got imitation ivory, as well as alternative ivory just a ways down the page.
I've never used the imitation ivory before, but it looks good in the pictures.

Dave & mbkco...PMs sent.

Thanks for the kind words guys. This dagger is from the same billet that the Vest Bowie (from my hippo tooth post) is coming out of.

It's a beauty J. ;) Of course wouldn't expect anything less. :)

Dude, that is pretty sweet. I love the looks of that African Black Ivory wood. How does it compare to African Blackwood and Gabon Ebony?

Nice pattern too!

J thanks for the headsup on the black ivory. I'm gonna check that out. I really like the way pink ivory works but there isn't a great demand for pink knife parts. :D I put pink grips on my wife's little chrome .38 derringer and it looks sweet - but she's a girl.

Thanks for the K&G note Mike, I have their catalog and will look into that too.

That's what I get for trying to catch up on posts. I did not even realize Dave asked about the Black Ivory. :footinmou

No sweat Dave.

Laredo- the Black Ivory seems alot denser/tighter than the blackwood or ebony. Althought the African Blackwood is close. The havesting is what makes it more expensive I think. It's like the pink ivory. Only a certain amount can be cut and only by a shaman and only at a certain time and so on and so forth.
