Funny. I guess the molds require an invesment on the front end but then the volume that can be produced must be high and keeps the end price down.
 
Yep, the numbers I've seen kicked around were $50K to $80K for a mold. You need to be doing a lot of volume to make that back. From what Sal has said in the past, once the mold is made a whole FRN handle costs less to manufacture than a single G-10 scale, but if you can't sell fifty thousand of those handles, the cost savings doesn't do you much good.
