New damascus - family knife

It's amazing the precision that the people at CRK are capable of, Awesome piece, congratulations.

This is so cool. Great Idea!

All sorts of ideas are popping off in my head right now.

I wonder if more detail = more $.

Grats on the acquisition! Looks so good allround.

Ive seen these families on cars and though genial find that to be a bit dangerous, on a knife seems hand in hand perfect.

Enjoy it in the best!

how much extra does it cost to get your own custom design made on the knife?

Wow, A true CRK Custom.
Didn't know this was an option.

Digging through old emails this is what Heather from CRK sent me. That being said we later had some confusion on the price, not sure when it occured, so these might not be the current prices.

"I spoke with our machinist and the set up fee for your “people” graphic is $150. If you want that design in a small silver/contrast or reverse silver contrast (please see attached) the price will be an additional $385 plus shipping. If you want the design anodized (in color) the price for a small is an additional $430 plus shipping. Please note we do not have a full spectrum of colors that we can reproduce when anodizing. We can obtain blue, purple, gold, silver, and variations of those. We can achieve a green but it is often on the pale yellow side. Please let me know how you want to proceed or if you have any more questions. "

Heather was very nice working with me over the past year+ as I pestered her with questions. :) Last year I had three small custom sebbies made (one each for myself and my brothers). If I remember right the set up fee was a one time thing for the set. They were normal blades, not damascus, so it only took a month. If you'd like to get something made I recommend emailing Heather and asking how it works, she was very helpful. If you don't get damascus they can get it to you pretty quickly. Then post pics. :)

edits: to clarify a bit. The custom graphic was only $150, you simply add that to the cost of the knife. When I started this process I had requested a small sebbie. While I was waiting I was able to handle a small and decided I like the larges much better, so swapped to that. So the initial price quoted here (small, no color) was $150 + $385 = $535. With color it would be $150 + $430 = $580. There might be another fee or so in there, once I swapped to large my total cost was $760. Sorry for the confusion.

I am a little confused... So it is $150 plus the cost of the knife, for a total of $580 plus shipping anodized?

That's not bad!

I keep coming back to it and think it would be a great idea for a lot of us parents. I would need to add another child and would have to leave out the dog, 5 cats and sugar glider.

The way I am reading it it cost about a grand for that knife.

That's beautiful. I wonder if they can pull off a portrait. I'd love to get one with my daughter.

Man that is AWESOME! So cool. Worth every penny IMO. Not another CRK like it. And GREAT blade choice too!!

total cost for me was $760. I ordered it two years ago though, and prices have gone up slightly. Looking at the current price list on CRK a computer generated graphic with ladder damscus is $650. You add the $150 setup fee for your own graphic and it comes to $800, which probably just refects the price increase last year. Recommend email CRK for updated details.

Great idea, you will only see one like that. Very nice, it is definitely worth the price.
