ZDP is a very special steel that Hitachi has been making for the past 20+ years. With 3% carbon and 20% chrome, the formation of chrome carbides reduced the effect of the Chrome. But there is really nothing in the blade world quite like it.

It's an honor having your thought's on ZDP @Sal Glesser. I'm not trying to diss ZDP in this thread in any way, it's just that I'm on a stainless mission these days.
I've never had any problems with ZDP personally, it's a fantastic steel.
I rediscovered the Delica/Endura patterns and realized how good they look and the basic utility factor they exude.
In fact I ended up ordering a M390 version and I'm VERY stoked to be able to have this icon of a folder in a premium steel like this. I was actually a bit shocked to see BBS still having them in stock! I guess the shipping fee scared a lot off people off.
While I wait I'm gonna carry my ZDP-189.
