New Delica/Endura?

ZDP is a very special steel that Hitachi has been making for the past 20+ years. With 3% carbon and 20% chrome, the formation of chrome carbides reduced the effect of the Chrome. But there is really nothing in the blade world quite like it.

It's an honor having your thought's on ZDP @Sal Glesser. I'm not trying to diss ZDP in this thread in any way, it's just that I'm on a stainless mission these days.

I've never had any problems with ZDP personally, it's a fantastic steel.

I rediscovered the Delica/Endura patterns and realized how good they look and the basic utility factor they exude.

In fact I ended up ordering a M390 version and I'm VERY stoked to be able to have this icon of a folder in a premium steel like this. I was actually a bit shocked to see BBS still having them in stock! I guess the shipping fee scared a lot off people off.

While I wait I'm gonna carry my ZDP-189.

Sharpened my ZDP Delica today, for the first time I guess. And OMG what a nice and crisp edge this steel takes!

And when you know how long it's gonna hold up it's really satisfying. I think I just reached a new level of respect to the ZDP-189 steel today...

I love when you can make a nice light quick slash at something with a crisp blade and it’s like a lightsaber! I did a few blades this morning and strop finished them. Wife needed some blades for her and a friend to help kids with school projects over the weekend. She’s coming around to the value of a good knife. Slowly... but surely.

LOL :D

I totally know what you mean. I allways bring a pair of small diasharp 6" stones whenever I travel to our family cabin. The kitchen knives there are a complete mess by default when I get there every time...

It's so entertaining watching when family members use a "fresh" knife, you see the expression on theire face. And then they usually turn heads on me and goes something like "heeeyyy, you've sharpened this knife haven't you?"

And then later on they put in it the dishwasher and start the process of edge destruction over again..
