New design - Bush knife

Very nice, Rick. Looks like a real winner

Of course, I cannot say if it will function well. Maybe send it my way to try out for a year or 50. :p

Do you think a big honker like this... coupled with a small kiridashi type knife (sheath-mounted together) would be a viable woods carry? I may try this out for a while. Seems I've been gravitating toward larger blades lately.

The sheath is gonna be cool for this one.

Rick

I think it will be a great bush combination bro.I like the looks of both knives and am now really looking forward to seeing how how you do the sheath. While I don't care much for a lot of the commercially available piggy-back combinations of two full sized knives of similar size but different blades... and I am constantly working with a particular knife to see just how much I can do with just that one knife... I do really like the large knife/small knife...chopper/detailer type combinations. Bryan got me started on it some time back and it has become a regular thing for me now when I hit the woods.

This is one of the woods combinations I'll be carrying and working with for a while to come.

I really like your work, Rick. For me, the one is too short and the other too long. I want a full 4" handle for my medium-size hand and I would go with a 3" blade. The big one I would max out at 10". That's just me. I do love your website blade offerings.

ya, ya, yah.....and this one at 9" cutting length is just right, that is according to my pal Goldilox ;)

Rick,

I like the modified version better than the drawing with the multiple grinds. I think it'd make a fine outdoor blade, especially paired with a small, pairing knife size knife. It's not thick, so it'll be easier to carry and easier to wield. That's a great knife.

It's nice... but, next time, think bonbe.

:D

But really, great work. Paired with a small carver, I think it would be a great set-up.

Rick,

I really like how your designs always seem to bring to mind different cultures and their cutting tools. I think there is probably a lot of wisdom in designing knives based on the tools that have proven themselves useful for generations.

Finished the sheath.... still messin with the small blade mount. Might try to make a frog with the small blade attached. The knife locks into the sheath with an audible CLICK. I might try to get out to test it this weekend.
