New Design?

.

Right on, bring back the 1/4" INFI SHBA with a slightly smaller blade and a smooth butt!

.

Larger wound canal! Kinda like the .45 ACP premise.:eek:

I always wonder what a puncture wound from an OD would look like and how hard it would be to get that sucker to close up and heal, let alone stop bleeding. 3/8" with the swedge and all would make a nasty wound channel I bet.

Self defense with a knife? Where do you all roam, Mogadishu? Beirut?

What a fun topic. I love imagining hurting and maiming in new and creative ways.

What about a Busse that has a grenade in the handle so after you stick it in your enemy you can pull the pin and watch them blow apart into little bits. That would be awesome.

Some of the guys who post here might very well roam in Mogadishu and Beirut. It ain't Busse Combat for nothin'.

As for me, I simply like the old Boy Scout motto of "Be Prepared." I don't enjoy imagining any kind of hurting or maiming, but I want to protect myself and my family from said hurting or maiming if possible.

Now, about that Busse with a grenade in the handle, can I get some specs? A pic maybe?

From my own life experience, no one who's actually had to hurt or maim another human would joke and jive about it in any sort of coi way. I've been guilty of this type of mental masturbation myself in my youth. Only weekend wannabe warriors would even make these speculations. This whole thread is absurd. I understand the premise. In theory even a skeleton key with the right placement could cause fatal damage, right?

Who's joking?

More importantly, what's a coi?

Self defense with a knife is a last resort sort of thing. I tend to carry other means of self-defense. However, if you're cornered and a knife is all you've got, why not have a knife with some design assets? Eg. in such a pinch, I'd rather have a SJTAC over a Skeleton Key.

I should apologize for getting into this like I did. I shouldn't have made it any of my business; hope I'm not out of line for saying what I said. I need to learn to lighten up.

I personally have had both a knife an a bullet in me, and to be honest I'd prefer the bullet. A knife is cold and just has this extremely harsh frigid feeling to the wound. A bullet stings and is hot feeling. They both suck, and the wounds take an unbelievably long time to heal. I find the whole topic distasteful, but again I'm sorry if I was rude.

I don't think you need to apologize. But I don't think there's any chance of Busse Combat subforum suddenly becoming PracTac either.

I'm glad you're still with us and sorry you had these experiences. I've neither been shot, nor have I been stabbed in anger. Avoiding such events is one of the main reasons I carry a pistol.

Okay. Before the "blades are not weapons" or "blades are not good weapons" crowd starts posting here, and your opinion is as just as good as anyone elses...

Yes, a knife can be a weapon. Some knives lend themselves more towards this while others are work/utility/survival knives. And they can be very effective under the right circumstances. No they are not the best. My Glock 21 wins every time as far as what I would grab first. My, soon to be purchased 12 ga., may take the cake for home defense.

But lets be real. I can not walk around with a firearm of any time in my state. However, I can carry a blade almost everywhere in my state. Now for me a knife is first and formost a tool. And that is why I carry a small one most of the time. But that same tool can also, if needed, be used for defense. Otherwise all those training and teaching knife combatives are wasting there time. And yes, some of them are. Not very realistic. Others are very realistic. But in my 15 years + of traing and teaching bladed weapon I have learned that anyone with a knife in their hand, regardless of experience, is scarry. I have had to take away a few knives from drunks in my life time and it was real scarry.

There are active military people who post here so Guyon was right on. No one said we were going to run around playing Rambo. But there is nothing wrong with a specialized knife. personally, my "tools" double as last ditch weapon.

So no oe is trying to make light of this topic. :)

Str8Edg: I think these kinds of threads can and do get carried away. Respect for life should always be central to these discussions IMHO. So no worries bro. Feel free to share with us. That's how we all learn. :)

I really like that PD-TAC, when is that coming around???

Is it single edged or double?

I like it too. That one would make a kick-butt hunting knife.

Reminds me of the Euro-4 a lot.

Don't worry, young feller. It took me almost 40 years to even begin to 'lighten up.'

...and, like you, I've experienced a great variety of wounds (including the two you mention). They do suck, come to think of it, and I can see how they might encourage you to 'veer off-topic' (in the classic Guyon-ese sense of that phrase). :)
