These are 2 new designs that made it from paper to steel. Just wanted to post some (crappy) pre- H.T. pics to see what everyone thinks.

(yes, the top knife is another take on the reverse tanto...What can I say? I love this configuration!) Thanks for looking.

I like your designs... but I have one question. This is from someone that majored in engineering for 3 years, do you worry about the holes in the blade weakening it? Usually the weakest point of any object is at a hole, so this makes me curious. From a visual perspective, they are great looking.

Gigemtxaggies, I have wondered about this ever since seeing other knives with "decorative" holes. I haven't had any problems with my blades yet, and I do abuse the first few I made to this day (wasn't comfortable selling them without at least a little torture testing). Most of the credit for this can go to Paul Bos, I'm sure- he has always done an EXCELLENT job for me!
However, I would do away with the holes without a second thought if they affected the knives in any significant way, or if a customer didn't want them.
Aside from the "decorative" aspect, the holes also allow me to fine tune the balance point a little to accomodate different handle materials.

Thanks for the answer... and the info. I never thought about the benefits of them in balancing the blade. Super cool idea!
