New Driving Law in Colorado - Bah!

Also as an 18 year old we have to register for the draft and maybe even enlist and die for our country. Either eighteen is the age of adulthood or not.
In Colorado kids get their permits at 15, and their full licenses at 16. So the 6-month passenger limitation expires for most drivers when they're 16-1/2.

All other driving restrictions (no cell phones, passenger restrictions, etc.) are lifted at the age of 18, you're proposed "age of adulthood".

I don't believe this is correct info:
... law that makes it illegal for a new driver under 21 to carry any passenger in their car who is also under 21 for the first 6 months of their license. For the next six months, they are allowed one passenger under 21.
The law applies to new drivers under the age of 18. http://www.rmiia.org/Auto/Teens/Colorado_GDL.htm

That makes perfect sense, it's a completely fair law. Kids can be idiots, and not just that, but we're inexperienced behind the wheel. We're not as good at judging distance, speed, reasonable speed etc. I wouldn't want MY kids to be driving with newly licensed drivers, and this law makes it illegal. 6 months is a fair period to allow the driver to gain experience. Massachusetts has always had that law; it's not that big of a deal. I don't see what the problem with this law is. The road test for a license is extremely easy as it tests virtually nothing other than that you can be a relatively good driver in a controlled environment with a STATE TROOPER in the passenger seat instead of your buddies.

Actually I think there should be a rule on the forums that NO foriegner should be able to comment on any of our laws or rights.... but that might just be me but I have seen it too often here and on other forums.

Well...that's a very open-minded and reasonable request

The law may be "just" but I am sick of a few costing many to pay a price. The left has been doing this in many arena's. For every teen that dies because of the misuse of a vehicle there are many, many more that don't. It further causes the innocent to pay in cost and inconvienience for the actions or potential actions of a few. "but if it saves just one it is worth it" the battle cry that will cost us all more and more.... just turn in your knives and guns now- it may save one life ya know...

What does that have to do with liberalism, or the left? All this talk about how the "left" wants to restrict everything is bullsh*t. Pure, simple bullsh*t. As a liberal myself, I get tired of it quickly. Intelligent people see through this left/right nonsense.

I think it's a silly law, but it has its merit. And it's only for six months, not until they turn 21 (unless they get their license at 20.5).
