New dude, New becker

The Saber 16 was the original iteration, but the idea was changed shortly after they entered production to change them to a full flat grind with new coating and laser-etched logo. The first ones were almost all sold to Smoky Mountain Knife Works and lasered "First Production Run" across them with Ethans signature on the other side. Those were the first available tweeners, and many here ordered them from SMKW to get ahold of them. Then when they were available, they were all full flat grind with new coating and lasered logos. There were some saber 16's that were made with the stamped logo and the old coating, but there were very, very few made with the new coating and laser logos of the saber variety. They pop up randomly with nothing to indicate that they are in any way different, and as such have proven incredibly hard to track down as there are so few of them. Hence my willingness to purchase said knife should you be so inclined, and for what I would consider a fair amount. But either way, you got yourself a fine knife, and I am sure if you decide to keep and use it, it will serve you very well.

I PM'd him on the other forum. I got no reply, haha. :D

Yeah, I checked that out. For now it remains secret. JD inquired with the seller and it must've been random. I'd have ordered their entire stock haha.

Just hang onto it man. You may need it some day in one way or another. I'd only sell mine if I was really hard up.

Welcome! Nice first beckers, a rare saber BK16 and a BK15. Another BK16 and BK10 ordered.

You'll need a chopper, a BK9!

Sorry Guys, I already called seller. They checked the others and what they have is all FFG.

She said someone had misplaced this one at the store. She apologized... I told here its OK I like it.... I told her it was just a early model.

So maybe they found it in the wrong place and put it back in its proper section on the shelf,,, who knows... I got lucky to get it.

Thanks for all the information

Welcome! Great pics. What are the chances of getting a Saber 16 direct from a dealer in 2015??? Good for you!

Guyon,
You got three of 'em ! :D Two dont look used at all... Ha Ha !

Is the FFG BK16 noticably lighter in weight than the saber ?

Ill find out monday when other knives get here, figured id ask...

Onya JD! Glad to have you here brother! Man. A mini 2. Lucky lad. I bet the person who originally boxed that up said to themselves "I wonder if the person who gets this realizes just how lucky and coveted they're going to be". I guess you do now. And I reckon you've just coined a new phase here: hot rodding your knife. I love it! You're gonna fit right in here my friend! And seriously, listen to the Omega Biscuit. DO NOT look under Mooses kilt. I did. Now I have retinal herpes...

Welcome. Great score on the saber. Better not press Guyon too much about his knives - he'll end up posting pics of his collection that'll just make you depressed…

i think he sold a few extras so we won't feel so bad ;)

don't even dare take all mine out and photograph them...

it might collapse the solar system :D

His collection is impressive to say the least and always a thrill to get a look at. Haven't seen a Brute hit the exchange in forever!!

Welcome! You sure started you collection off right!

The saber 16's are not all they are cracked up to be. Horrible knife and doesn't cut worth a darn. Need to all be melted down to make BK-7's. Lol

But as many others have offered to take it off your hands if grow tired of it, I too will offer to do the same.
Hell, I'd probably trade you any brand new Becker model model you wanted for it! :D

Again, nice score and welcome to the Becker Family! Look forward to more posts as your collection grows.

And yes, the full flat does feel lighter in the hand and has a slightly different balance.

Regardless of the model, you can't go wrong with a 16 as first choice, congratulations and welcome.

Hey JD.......

Welcome and many thanks for your business....... I think your choices are pretty choice..... I think the Sixteen is the handiest blade I have designed........ Brother Fisk designed the Fifteen and I think you will find it quite useful......Especially if you deconstruct a lot of fish and game... The Eleven might be a good next choice and, of course, the Nine....... The Nine and Four make excellent substitutes for a hatchet and do as credible substitutes for some machete tasks.........

Thanks again for your business, your excellent pics and your interest....... Please come back often and let us know how you like using them..... Happy Fourth......

Ethan

Welcome to the forum! These guys are very knowledgable and don't feel like there is any bad question..... For what I've seen they are quite friendly. I don't know all the things in the world about knives but I have a lot of other woods and survival knowledge!
