Just read this on another forum, thought it would not hurt to give everyone a heads up...

"Today while browsing the antiques section for nihonto, I clicked on a link which took me to the login screen. After I typed in my password and hit enter, I then noticed the URL was a redirected site, not the actual eBay website. I quickly hit stop, but fearing it was too late I changed my password just in case.

Very dangerous, people are now not just sending realistic looking emails, but the auctions themselves are now traps. I couldn't find the auction again so maybe it was removed already, but just be wary."

The other way to "catch" a scammer is by looking at the auctions catergory listing. If a bobcat is in the health and beauty, it is SCAM. We always need to be very careful and any helpful hints benifit us all.

Yeah, I've wondered about this bit too:

Most auctions now have a "paypal" button so that you can pay for the item quickly and easily via your paypal account. How hard would it be to build a fake button to redirect you to some other login screen that looks like paypal's login. You login and you just gave up your password. I think I'm going to get the paypals account from them directly now on and not go through the ebay paypal button.
