New echelon looks different

I lobbied to remove the slot entirely, but it was decided to keep it so the knives would be more consistent with the catalog.

Dang, I wish this had gone through. Would've loved to have seen an Echelon without that slot.

Wow, now I'm glad I still have mine....I think the value of the first gen Echelons might go up in the secondary market.

Slot with the nice grooves around the 'floating thumbstud' - makes the knife unique - the new version lacks appeal.

Cutting away a little of the g10 handle to make the thumbstud more accessible - that would be an improvement - but first and foremost... Please oh please kershaw - put a flipper on it! A flipper would also give the choil/finger-guard that is 'missing'.

The handle feels super light - I wish it had full liners.

I like it better without the "scallops" or "slots" personally. I'm all for removing the slot entirely. Maybe they'll go that direction at the end of 2013 when they make new catalogs given jimmer's reasoning.

These scallops taper to a point. That looks cool.

Yea I don't know, without the "scallops" it looks a little bland.
