New EDC carry suggestions

Mini Grip is hard to beat for EDC - many variations / blade options - I've been using Doug Ritter variant for years

I'm more inside than out - if you need a hardier EDC - you can step up to full size Grip - Sebenza is really nice but more $$

I think your issue with the ZT is the lock bar ! just make sure your fingers are not on the lock bar when deploying - I mean any pressure will stop it from opening
it's ridiculously smooth once you get the hold correct - That said it's a bit finicky and I don't need to worry about where my fingers are with an Axis lock

The mini grip and lil native arrived today.

My impression is:

Mini grip

Smooth opening and closing
I like the axis lock since fingers are out of the way when closing.

Lil native.

Seems to be better built
Smooth as well
Back lock not as easy although not a deal breaker.
Feels and carrys better in the pocket (could this be due to the nicer thinner g10 scales)

I ended up keeping the mini grip. I really liked the axis lock and the two 8mteraction that I had with benchmades customer service. I also placed a order for custom scales from igorded. Will post pics once I receive them. Thanks for all of the input

Hi all,

Longtime lurker jere with my first post. I am looking for advice on new EDC knife. I recently lost my Kershaw Chive that I carried for about 12 years. I enjoyed the knife especially the size but the blade material was lacking. For a replacement I have been looking at the following.

  1. Benchmade mini grip g10
  2. Spyderco lil native
  3. zero tolerance sinkevich 0450cf
I have handled all 3 and I like the action of the mini grip the best. I like the size of the lil native but do not care for the shape of the blade that much. For the Zt I really like the feel of the carbon fiber and the thinness of it but the deployment of the knife was not as smooth as the other two and it is the biggest of the 3. Any input and advice would be greatly appreciated on this.

Thank you all
For the 0450 you have to make sure your finger isn’t up against the frame lock

IMO the ZT0450 isthe best of the 3 but it is a bit larger too, in fact it is very similar to a BM940
It will make a great EDC

the mini grip will feel a bit smaller in hand but it is still a capable (and proven) EDC
Maybe it will be more versatile than the 0450
But disassembly and maintenance of the axis lock will be always more tricky than any knife with another locking mechanism ;)
It can be done , no problem, but not the easiest for sure

i think the lil is too small, more in the range of a dragon fly 2 , which can also be a option

in the same kind of size of the mini grip the Native 5 is also a good option
For a user EDC, the lightweight native is a very good EDC! No as fidgety or as classy than the mini grip or 0450 but very good
