So I'm in the market for a new 3" or so EDC knife. General everyday tasks, cutting boxes, opening packages etc. I have it narrowed down to 2 pretty much, the Benchmade Ritter Mini Grip and the Spyderco Sage 1. I have heard a lot of great things about the Sage and I've never owned one. I have a couple regular Mini Grips and they are some of my favorite EDCs. I'd really like to try M390 on the Ritter and the Sage comes in S30V which I have a lot of. New model with familiar steel, or familiar model with new steel? I know the Ritter blade is different then the production grips too.

I got a Mini grip with M4 blade. Pretty awesome little blade! I would like to try an M390 one also.

Man you really cant go wrong with either but since you have some grips already I would get a spyderco .

Everyone needs a Delica in their life.

Of the two you asked about though, I'd get a Sage. The Ritter grip, while great, is still just another grip.

Sage is great knife check out the new sage5 with a better lock . The CF looks so much better .

The ritter is really a great option and it has been my personal choice
But if you already have a couple of my grip I think you better have to give the Sage a try

I find the Grip and its sibling to be same, just different in size.

I don't find the Delicate/Endura to be the same to Sage although quite similar. Delicas are unique in the way it rendering of the leaf shape, leaning more to the standard shape. Same with the handle.

I'd probably look into a Sage if I had a couple of Grips. If Delica is the only Spyderco you've handled, you haven't felt the complete Spyderco design encompassed by the rest of its line namely the Sage. It's Spyderco's design R&D knife.

I own quite a few Spyderco's actually, they are not unfamiliar to me. I own more Spydies than any other brand.

Would a LionSteel TRE G-10 be too far out of budget? Just thinking it's something different from what you already have, it's within specs, and it has the steel you're looking for...

Good luck, OP! :)

These have interested me for a while too, but it's a little too pricey. Maybe if one came up on the exchange.

Can't go wrong with either - but I am impartial to the Sage! So glad I found my user after 2-years!

Just found a deal on a sage on the exchange, it's on its way. Hopefully I enjoy it. I'll probably still want to find something in m390 at some point though.

Got my Sage Yesterday, Carrying it today. I'm really liking it so far, the quality is great. It's actually a bit bigger than I was expecting for some reason, but that's not a bad thing. Very comfortable in hand and carries well.
