I’m looking for a new fixed blade to edc. I’m turning here with the idea you experienced folks can turn me to the right direction.

.Ideal length 5-7” blade
.scout carry preferred (I got enough stuff taking up room on belt)
. American made (boy was I disappointed to recently learn of bucks outsourcing, so I don’t even want them if they outsource some products).
.Good price/quality balance. I’m a family man and can’t really justify spending over $100 on a knife.

I’m open to a custom sheath maker as well that can make something for one in my existing collection. I like leather over kydex but will accept kydex. Please know if any leather shop you may recommend uses stains that can transfer over to clothing, furniture etc

I recent learned of pocket fixed blades and shy away from it. Reason being I carried iwb for awhile and the tension bent the blade and sheath over time. I’d expect I’d find a similar outcome with the pocket option. So I don’t think that would work well for me. I must not be skinny enough lol.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Esee 6 is on sale at BladeHQ for $140 instead of $220.

6.50" blade

Same knife, different handle, leather sheath. No scout carry tho.

Are you looking for a 5" to 7" blade? ... or the overall length of the knife at 5" to 7".

You are doing yourself a disservice by not looking at the American made Buck knives. The 100 series are classic well made knives. Made to last a lifetime backed by the best warranty and customer service in the industry.
Agreed, the US made stuff is still classic and even though they out source some of their stuff, still supporting an American company. The 119 and 105 0f course , but I like the overall size of the 117, same shape as a 119 but longer handle than the 102, and the blade is more practical. We all have opinions, be ready for them. :) Good luck in your search and let us know what you find. As a quick not, for a s little more, you can get a good blade from e of the makers here in the exchange. GL Drew makes good affordable working knives, as do many others.

I Hope so, Haha..... When I first read that, I was like RIGHT ON!
Not many edc longer blades.
I do, I like how a longer blade carries & Uses
4 is ok
five is Nice
6-7 is probably because I am over compensating.... :P

*Also.... How the Heck does a blade bend from carrying inside the waist/belt???
I’m going to guess it was a result of my belt applying pressure between the love handle and hip bone (iwb). Fat guy problems lol.

Boot knife style knife, I’ll have to get a photo soon. Older, when I last looked it up years ago I couldn’t find anything. Says something cutlery and Japanese surgical steel.

I straightened it out I think it wasn’t like 90 degrees. Just a little more than noticeable if that makes since.

Yeah I prefer a long blade due to my location. In the north east people often wear thick layers and puffy coats. And more often than not are thick themselves. Making something smaller sort of useless for my intended purpose. Though that isn’t the only reason I rather carry a larger blade. Just my main reason.

May I ask... What is Scout Carry? I've never heard of it. 😊

Ontario, buck, and kabar are the only ones I can think of thag are American made and under $100 for tour desired blade length.

The Ontarion spec plus line would be my starting point in that price range as long as you can sharpen as the blades can be a little thick.

Kabar's Mark 1 is probably my 1st choice in your desired requirements.

I can't think of any knife that comes with a sheath that can be scout carried as stock. However, you can easily accomplish that with some double-sided velcro on most plastic sheaths of knives that length.

All 3 outsource some of their production while having some made in the USA. IF That's still a deal breaker, I'm not sure you'll find what you're after with those constraints.
