Hello BladeForums,

I recently broke my Kershaw Blur's blade after an accident regarding a dumb friend and a jammed shredder...
I will be sending that in for repairs. However, I was already thinking about upgrading my knife anyway, for anything less than $400 and it seems a broken blade is a good excuse to do so... right now I am considering the TAD Dauntless MK4 in carbon fiber, and the Emerson Commander for EDC/mixed camping and fishing use- please tell me your opinions! Also please suggest other blades considering the following-
I'm lefty
Dislike of non-coated blades
Nothing smaller than 3.4 inch blade
Prefer US-Made

Thank you guys!

Griptilian. $200 go to Benchmade website and customize it. You'll love what you get and no one else will have a my little pony engraved blade like yours. Lol

A left handed CRK or a ZT that you can switch the pocket clip to carry left handed.

Large left handed Sebenza, might have to stretch your budget just a hair, or maybe find a sweet deal.

Any axis lock Benchmade you fancy (or similar lock)

Or, if righty made frame/liner locks don't bother you, just the pocket clip, maybe consider a titanium lionsteel sr1. Made in italy.

I believe he stated he wants a coated blade over 3.4"

I would say a ZT 0801 black or blackwash. ZT 0095bw, 0620, 0804.

Also, a lot of Emerson's.

BM gripptillin awesome knife. Mine are 154cm and I like them a lot. Opens closes with one hand with ease. Also PM 2 is nice only reason I don't carry it everyday is it does not have deep carry clip. With 400 dollar budget you could get a one of each! More fun that way

The new g-10 grip in 20cv is really nice. You could get that and have custom scales put on for well under $400.

The Southern Grind Bad Monkey is another option.

I'll go a different way and say Spyderco Manix 2 XL, Military (if a liner lock works for you), or an Endura (if a non-coated blade works). Well under budget, a big step up in quality from the Kershaw, and if it does happen to end up in a shredder again it won't hurt the wallet as bad as a CRK. The left handed Sebenza of choice would also be a great pick at the upper range of the budget. It really would come down to if I wanted to spend the full $400-$450 or if I would be happier at $100-$200. Everything mentioned so far is a good choice. I'd want to see the benchmade in person before buying one. I know a lot of people get good ones but mine have a little side to side play and the centering on the mini-grip is ugly. Sounds about par for the course unfortunately.

I've had the same and other issues with Benchmade. Sold them all, and am leery to by another.

I missed that part. So much for the Sebenza. I'll stick with Benchmade, though, as Axis knives work for righties and lefties. Axis Stryker 908-1501 KSF exclusive. M4 steel in black Cerakote, CF scales, reversible deep-carry Parkerized clip, two hundred fifty bucks. Just fantastic F&F. What's not to love?
