New EDC knife

I just got a ZT 700 as an EDC knife and I love it. I also see it as an excellent tactical folder. It has better steel than the BM or Ontario. It is lighter than than the ZT 350. I also prefer the handle of the ZT 700 to the Griptilian. It feels more secure to me. Also a tanto can be an excellent edc shape. It really depends on what you are planning to do with it.

knifeworks sells Ritter mini-grips for $120 and they have a discount code.

Im debating if I want the mini or the "regular" size I like a blade in the 3-3.5" range 3.25 or so would be perfect...I will say those ZT's..they seem real "thick" for pocket carry and im just not sure... I like the blade style on the Benchmade more I think. I knew this was not gonna be easy lol..Honestly my favorite out of the whole group as far as style of knife(though its a bit less than I wanted to soend and not made in the USA) is the Ontario RAT.

Just seems a simple blade. I look more and more at the ZT and I just dont like the short stubby blade design i guess...Out of FLAPRS pics I think I like the Griptillian and the RAT the most. IF they had had the full size Ritter RSK Mk1 id already have ordered it.

Ok guys after looking at a couple reviews online im gonna go with the Doug Ritter MINI RSK MK1 Black,Yellow or Orange handle Hmmmm.... thoughts(i know its just aesthetic but figured id ask :)

Doesn't really matter what color scales come on it. You'll be putting some custom scales on it soon enough. ;)

Spyderco Delica, hands down. I have few BM's, Kershaws, but I always carry my Delica. Can't go wrong @ 60bucks and the ergos are perfect.

Hey where did you get those grips(or any to browse through) or can I get some custom ones? Its on order and id like to grab some different grips. Thanks!

I just got an exclusive griptilian from knifeworks with s30v steel for just about your price range.
Excellent knife and I like the gray scales and the black clip. Quite a good knife as an edc user. The Buck Pro Vantage is also a great edc for the money.

The ones I have were made by Kevin Wilkins. If you like that particular color, he still has some of the large grip sets. The small ones are sold out, and he's said he is no longer able to source that particular material. He also has several other colors available. Cuscadi (Custom Scales Division) is another popular maker. There are also several forum members that make some really nice looking scales.

Custom scales aren't cheap though... not at all...

I see...maybe I will skip them then..I like them but not at the price I saw. Thanks anyways it was a great look but im not that into a new look :) (id posted before I saw what they cost :) )

I wonder why they are so much.....reason I ask is For my Birthday present which is what the knife was I considered a Knife OR Custom grips for my Dan Wesson .357 Magnum... the Custom gun grips in even exotic wood were like $60-65 and no more than $75 I understand different metals VS wood for gun grips..but some of the knife grips were even some sort of plastic...is it really that much harder to make a knife grip?

example of Pistol grip: http://lbcustomgrips.com/?page_id=33

I was just trying to figure/justify the almost double expense....im probably just missing something or just dont "understand" or what ever..Honestly when I was thinking extra grips(i get some of the materials are more pricey..like titanium...but some are plastic or composites of some kind and they are not very expensive..

I've never made a knife or gun grip, but in the case of the Griptilian, the handles aren't trivial. There are precise cutouts for all the liners, screws, Axis lock, etc. The Griptilian is still a great knife with the default Noryl GTX scales.

Go with the BM Grip. Tried and true for years now. You will be pleased with your purchase. There are also alot of custom handle scale makers that make Grip scales. Always a plus. Good luck!

Yeah I know the newer stuff is better steel..But ive never(and wont) be put "off" by "only 440c" like Id said...id say 90% of my stuff is 440C and its never failed, stays sharp long enough I cant complain about it, and is easy to sharpen. I hope that with my meager sharpening tools(all ive ever used or owned since I was a kid till now is a simple whetstone(s) and ive got a Smiths sharpening "block" I picked up way back in the mid 80's that has 2 ceramic(i think they are ceramic of some sort???) rods you put into the block and sharpen your knife on them lol...I hope this will work on the steel in this new knife..its worked on everything else ive had but 1 knife that I cant sharpen for the life of me lol(which is a tool steel Queen Cutlery Blem I got at a flea market).

Got the Ritter mini grip today. Thanks for all the recommendations. It took the Leeks place in my pocket right after I opened it :) . Love the leek but its tip is a bit too easily damaged this one(mini grip) is built like a tank.
