new edc

Of the ones you have listed, I like the Griptilian most.

Around the same size range as the ones you have listed, you might also consider:
- ZT 0566 - I just picked up one of these recently, and it is an amazing knife. It's just a tad over 5 oz, but it carries much more comfortably than the Grip, Para2, and 710. In hand, you get what you'd expect from a ZT - a very solid, robust feeling knife that seems ready to take on whatever use and abuse you can dish out.
- Benchmade 940 - Slim and light, yet packs a 3.4" blade. If you prefer a drop point to sheepsfoot blade, there's also the 943.
- Kershaw Blur - One of the Kershaw mainstays, and for good reason. Available in S30V and CPM154 (although the latter are getting harder to find), if you want something with a bit more wear resistance than 14C28N (which is already a great blade steel)

Thanks that was very helpful.

I believe the para 2 is the best all around pocket knife for the money on the market. Close to the top of the list for any price. On your list, the griptilian is next best, being a handier size than the 710 ,which is also a good edc. I would try to handle all three and discover your preference.

Out of that list my #1 would be the BM 710 followed closely by a PM2.

I love my mini-grip 555, its actually my favorite knife, but the full size grip doesn't do it for me, the size, weight and handle feel is all off. YMMV of course.

What about a ZDP-189 stretch? This knife seriously doesn't get the attention it should. It's pretty much an endura on steroids. Also the BRG is sexy! ;)

Edit: Out of the ones you listed, PM2. The compression lock is fun and great blade shape/steel.

Looking at your list and basing my recommendation solely on usefulness and durability, I'd pick the Rift. It's a very durable blade design / material, dependable lock, fits your weight / length criteria, and is capable of doing everything you've mentioned. It would be my first choice from your list and my second overall choice from everything I've owned or handled. My first choice would be an Emerson mini-CQC15.

BM 950 RIFT its a sweet knife, I traded mine cause it had serrations, but I would pick up another one given the chance. Great ergos, blade size, steel, company, i could go on.

grip- too thick
PM2- too much handle for blade
710- good choice, kinda big
ESSEE- idk I like axis locks

I have a particular size preference in a one-handed folder and for me I would go with the grip either the normal one or with upgraded steel. Smaller I would consider a sequel, more handle I would consider a PE 525.

If I were to EDC a Spyderco I would only be looking at a Delica, Sage, Native or a Caly 3.5 if it were myself. The PM2 would be too much handle for me in an EDC.

Of the ones you listed I would vote for the PM2. Not on your list but I would highly recommend the Delica and Endura.
