I was looking for a new edc knife and I have it narrowed down to a delica or para 2. I was wondering what you guys prefer for an edc blade. Thanks in advance!

Both knives are great knives but for edc I would go with the Delica because of its weight and size. The para 2 is a good camping folder but in my opinion it is to big for edc. and if you go with the delica it will save money which you can use to upgrade other edc items.

Hope this helped!

Really this is a question you have to answer for yourself. What I like, might not be what you like.
For general EDC, both will do just fine.
The Delica is smaller/lighter, so if that is higher on your needs/wants list, go Delica
The Para is bigger/heavier, so if that is higher on your needs list, go Para.
They are two totally different knives in my book. The Para is higher quality, but the Delica is a good user as well (nothing bad to say about it).

Both are great EDC knives. I have carried an Endura quite a lot, and have no issues. I also have a Para 2, and while I enjoy it, I've never really carried it because I made the mistake of getting it and a Gayle Bradley within two weeks of each other. Oops! GB wins hands down (for me).

Spike the other question to ask is - are you a big guy/have big hands? The Delica is almost perfect for a normal sized hand. But if you have huge mitts the Delica will seem like a gentlemen's folder. In that sense are you familiar with Spyderco ergos? All of them are pretty comfortable but there is going to be at least several models that will fit anyone's hands like a glove. For me it's the FRN Delica/UKPK/Caly type of slim handle.

I've held the PM2, and the low budget ones like a Tenacious in G10 and I actually like the FRN Spyderco's better but that's just me. They are very good. They are not actually THAT big in the grand scheme of things. Almost a perfect size if you had to have a do it all type of knife. But for me I would never EDC it as I find them too big for that purpose. And I also generally use folders for light duty cutting only.

I have both and the delica is in my pocket every day no exceptions :) I carry 2 knives every day, usually something expensive for me to enjoy but the second is always the delica. It is a great work knife, its not to pricey so you can use it hard without worry and yet the build quality is superb. I have 3 delicas and 1 para 2.

Heres some pics of the one in my pocket this very minute :D

Thanks for all the input guys!

The Delica is too small for me, the Para2 is just right. Usually one of these for me.

I prefer the Para2. I'm not a fan of lockbacks, and I much prefer the size and blade shape of the Para 2 over the delica. The fit and finish and materials of the Para2 are certainly better, but you pay for it (I still consider it pretty reasonably priced though).

I dislike the para2, which is why I'm selling mine, but I highly recommend the delica in zdp-189.

Seeing that, I think the Paramilitary 2 would fit your hand best. My hands are the same size and it fits great. However, If you have a Manix 2 already, a PM2 might be a bit redundant.

The Delica is going to be sized like a gentlemen's folder to you which for you might be ok. Its a very stout knife for general EDC use though.

For your hand size I would figure out from photos if you can't handle one if that's an ok size for you. The Delica, no if's and's or but's entirely disappears in your pocket. You hardly know that it's there. And if you are not worried about hot spots when holding a knife over long use the Delica might still be ok.

Like someone else said it might be redundant so depending on how you like the locking mechanism of the Manix could also determine if you need one or not. There is of course sprint runs with CF and Ti if that floats your boat. The Caly 3 and 3.5 are pretty nice as well. I.E. I traded my Endura to a big guy on the forum. He loves it for his big paws. He sent me back in exchange a UKPK and something else. I ended up traded the UKPK. Well guess what months later I bought another one back because it fits my hands so well. It's pretty personal. Nothing wrong with having a couple of Spydercos though.

Thanks for all the input guys!

I'm almost completely ambidextrous, but the para's handle is a bit too narrow for my large hands, and it just doesn't feel good in hand to me. Also, the compression lock tends to pinch my finger when opening with my right hand. Left hand manipulating the lock is great, but to me right hand is counter intuitive.

^ This.

I like the Caly 3.5 better. I'm not a fan of knives with way more handle than blade. I have a Manix 2, Delica, and PM2, I usually carry the Caly 3.5 over them.

I LOVE the Delica, love it. But the Caly has a finger choil. It really locks in your hand when you latch onto it!

^^ I concur regarding the Caly, I have the 3 in CF ZDP and really love it, fits my x-large hands no prob.
