Well basically I have a full beard now and while the chicks dig it ( oh yea!) it does make eating things like apples and cheese a bit of a mess. So my solution is a blade (duh) I've been using my sak that hangs off my keychain but I'd like to get a blade specifically for the job ... A culinary folder as it where.
I was looking at a buck 110 but think it may be too broad a blade for these purposes. So I put it to you all.... Thoughts and recommendations please :)

My favorite food knives are an opinel 6-8, case slimline trapper, and the sod buster jr. Though I always have GEC 15 on me and it does the job. I keep the others I mentioned in the kitchen and always have at least one of them with me when I travel.

My Opinel #8 gets the most use in the kitchen but if you were looking at a buck 110 take a look at a case copperlock. Kind of a similar style but much slimmer, lighter, and it disappears in your pocket.

The #15 spear Boys Knife is a good one. Or a #48 Trapper gives you two full-length blades that make great food slicers. I really like how my 48 Trapper handles food duties.

My favorite culinary slipjoint is a GEC #48 Traditional Trapper in elk stag and 440C stainless. From slicing fruit to spreading condiments it just works. Pretty, too!

Ha! azranchman and I posted the same pattern at the same time . . . pretty good evidence!

Thanks for such prompt replies ... I like the opinel but it's a bit bulky for my taste and I was looking for a single blade the trappers have me double guessing that now.
The case copperhead does look sweet ... Think it's long enough to stir .... Let's say coffee

Ha! Yes the 48 is a beauty!

Or the #65 Ben Hogan has a nice long single spear blade if you like a single.

Stainless Opinel. Boom.

I have a handful of traditionals. GEC, Queen, S&M and others. Even a lovely custom, but those darned Opinels can't be beat for such tasks.

Definitely check out the single blade trappers then!

Case Slimline Trapper in stainless steel makes for a great portable food prep knife. If you want to spend more for a higher end knife, the GEC #48 Trapper is another good one. My preference is SS for food prep, and the 48s were made in 440C for a while so it's possible to find some.

That Effie No 8 is so fine, so thin and so...SHARP!

Well, as a fellow Beardian, you will no doubt be opening bottles of strong beer on a regular basis. You'll need a good opener on you. A Victorinox Alox Soldier or Pioneer (with large stainless spear blade for cutting your fruits and cheeses) is the secret handshake of we folk. -Even if you are neat enough to not leave leftovers in your beard.

You so get my life

I'm a beardy. I think you're just making excuses for wanting to carry another traditional. ;)

Eating food without getting it round myself is something I learned when I was a child. :D Eating snacks with the aid of a pocket knife is also something I learned as a child - my father (another beardy) taught me. I still do it today, but I use whatever knife happens to be in my pocket at the time, it makes no difference. Congress, jack, Barlow, whittler, regardless of the pattern or blade shape, if it's sharp, it works.

Honestly my case cv peanuts probably get the most food time. I have carried one in my uniform trouser pockets for a couple of years now and have never lacked for blade length.

Enjoy your tasty carbon bladed aided snacks!

Paul

Opinel #7 or #8 would be my choice, nice fine blade, reasonably cheap, good reputation and not to bulky or intrusive for the pocket
