New "Factory Custom" ZT0392BLK

I agree, the handle is quite comfortable and actually one of my favorites out of many knives I've owned. With the flipper being a guard, and the mild finger grooves, there isn't really anywhere for your hand to go.

As far as everyone complaining ZT is putting out a bunch of these, it seems to be going just fine for ZT. They sell out, so obviously enough people like them to buy them.
I have to agree with your sentiment. Peeps moaned about all the colors so here is your devoid of color model that also happens to be the last 0392 for the US market. If you really want one one i'd suggest grabbing it. I don't think you will see this as a production piece due to hinderer still producing eklipse's. Who knows though.

I see this whole venture as a positive win,win for the market, the collectors, and KAI. Yes there are a few detractors who will say whatever it is they say but they are obviously the vocal minority. I am excited to see what is next on the radar for KAI's factory custom segment.

Best,

Justin

Not exactly..several 0392 models are still in stock at one dealer..

What I would really like to see is ZT offer these as a "build your own" version on their website like Benchmade has done with the Griptilian. I am sure they would sell tons of them.

This is a Fantastic idea.
Would it be harder due to using a framelock over the Pardue Axis?

I wouldn't think it would be much of a stretch since they would just have to get the pivot/lock face/lock bar interface to be standardized between their offered models.

Hopefully a return of a more EDC friendly Q36. Maybe some marbled carbon fiber, maybe some zirconium, maybe a Begg style pocket clip, maybe some mokume or timascus accents. Instead of just anodizing different colors they could add accents of different materials. Maybe offer a couple in 204P, a couple in some cool damasteel, one or two with DLC coated Vanadis 10 or highly polished and stonewashed Vanax. Maybe incorporate the Hoback Roller Detent and detent ramps.

I bet that would be a giant hit. Much more than the eklipse. The only problem is that they'd have to charge more and produce more to keep up with the demand.

I think you might need to recheck your info... Going Gear has been sold out of theirs for quite a while...

I think you might need to relearn how to use google search..they aren't a paid dealer but the acronym is: [Don't sidestep the rules.]

That must limit your choice of knives to some extent.

This is the quintessential Bowie knife.

I don't know about that.

None of my fixed blades or balisongs are in this photo. Either way, I miss the days when ZT actually made knives that interested me.

I would have picked up th eBLKGRN one if I found one so this is a nice alternative.

Finally...

They are good knives- really done well, but I completely understand the sentiment.

The 0606 series is supposed to be another in the factory custom lineup so we'll see where they go with those.

I'd like to see ZT get back to a beefy liner lock with rough G-10 ala the 0200 and 0300.

Pretty sure 0606 is all done.

also, 0300 was a framelock...

The ZT 0909 fits that bill quite well, IMO. And it's not too expensive.

The ZT 0200, while discontinued, fits the bill as well. Even better. The scales are quite 'grippy' One of the big knife sites still has new ones for $169, in their clearance area. I don't like black coated blades on ANY knife, as it shows every tiny scratch. But the ZT 0200 is such a nice heavy duty knife, at a relatively low price. It is a LOT of big heavy knife, for the money. I think.
