New Fallkniven has a chip (roll?) on blade edge.

It depends on the manufacturer. Trek, Specialized and Giant lead the bike world in warranty handling and customer/dealer service. If I came across a defect from the factory, I would contact my rep and either get a credit to discount the bike, or have the company send a replacement. Blem bikes are offered to the bike shops at severely discounted prices, and the shop guys usually snap them up pretty quick.

16 years of being in the bike industry as well as racing for Cannondale, Ridley, Giant, and Trek has taught me who to trust in the industry...

/sissy bike stuff

A few years ago I did a business case study on Cannondale. Those guys know how to build a business. And a bike.

And your response was predictable. Why pass the buck to the consumer when you can get some credit on it?

Anyways, OP, good luck with your problem. Sorry it had to happen on such an expensive knife.

How many years ago? They've been bought and sold recently (twice) due to financial woes :p Loved racing their MTB's, but their road stuff never did it for me. Now I'm racing for Trek, and their road stuff is wonderful, but the mountain bikes are "meh".

OP, maybe you should price out how much it would cost a professional to remove the roll and ask KW to cover the bill.

Although you know their policy, OP have you tried to contact Knifeworks and see if you can work something out with them. They are good people and may help you out.
