I received my first new model Fallknivens yesterday:

The HK9 exudes all the quality and refinment of the F1 micarta series. Slightly smaller in size than the F1, less than 1/2 inch shorter in the blade, and just slightly more than 1/2" shorter in total length, it is also lighter than the F1 micarta by about 25 grams. Both share a 4.5 mm blade thickness.

It appears oblivious the HK9 share roots with F1. The handle is slightly modified and the blade is slightly upswept with a more pronounced drop point. the bolster appears identical to the F1. The HK9 sports 3G steel, not available on the F1 until July, and then, only in limited quantities.

The FH9 is Fallknivens newest folder. Considerably smaller and lighter than the PXL and a bit smaller than the P series, it slots in nicely with the TK3 and U1 for size. A more robust feeling knife than the U1 thanks to the SS bolsters and full micarta scales (also available in MOP) The blade is 3G, has a slight upsweep, and sports a more pronounced drop point than the TK3.

The absence of a thumbstud detracts slightly from the ease of usability in my opinion, but overall this is another top notch offering from Fallkniven.

PS this isn't a new model, but I got it yesterday as well and couldn't resist.

You are right about the lack of one hand opening, but I gotta say that is one beautiful looking folder. Thanks for sharing.

It is a nice knife, very solid feel, and not too often the lack of a thumbstud would actually detract from the usability of the knife. I have just become accustomed to a thumbstud and kind of miss not having one on this offering.

Maybe is not that quick for opening but still remains a great folder.
Cheers

I like all of those! Is that a Hamon I'm seeing on all of them?

I may be wrong, but I think they are laminated blades and what you are seeing are the lines where the two steels meet. I'm not 100% certain, but they make a number of knives with laninated construction so it stands to reason that's what you are seeing.

IIRC "Hamon" refers to a differentially hardened blade. What you see on those is a lamination line.

I have seen Hamons that look like that on differentially hardened blades. SwampRats are differentially hardened and their Hamon looks a lot like that lamination line, very straight, that's what got me wondering. Thank You for the info. gentleman, I need a Fallkniven one of these days.:D

Not completely my style, but I think my dad would love one of those when not at work.

The FH9 is quite lovely

How does it compare in size to the U2?
Which I have and am totally impressed by the blade and steel and it's simplicity of design.

About like so. Actual specs are on Fallknivens site.

Sorry for the poor quality photos, I'm no photographer.

Very nice knives and thanks for sharing. I have grown very fond of the Fallkniven Knives over the last year. I have been holding off on buying one, but made the plunge on Saturday. Bought a P/3G with the Blue handle for my wife.

Can anyone tell me a little about the blade steel being used on these knives. I am not firmiliar with 3G.

thx
