New Fighter with Companion

Thank you all for the kind words I sure do appreciate it.

Hi Peter, I agree the sheath does look a bit utilitarian, on the next one maybe I'll send it out to a professional, I'd like to see Pauls or Stuarts version of a similar sheath.

Hi Stuart, I've made a few folders over the years, but its always taken me forever to get one made so I backed off on them, now that I have a new surface grinder up and running, it helps speed things up a little, so I hope to produce a few a little more often. ;)

Bill,
After posting my comment about the sheath, it occurred to me that it wasn't a very nice thing to say. Hopefully you are not insulted. The craftsmanship is fine, but those knives are exquisite, and to me the sheath doesn't accentuate their beauty!

You've been posting some EXCELLENT knives.

Peter

Truly Outstanding work ! You simply keep crafting more incredible knives with each posting.

BZ ! Well Done.

Hi Peter- no worries, you can't insult an ol missouri hillbilly unless you talk badly about his dog or bass boat, everything is else is unimportant. :D:D:D

Seriously, I appreciate your honesty. We can't improve if others don't tell/teach us what we need to know.

Thanks again everyone,

Bill

you have a lot of class, Mr. Buxton.

a very kewl concept Bill. I would not be surprised to see more maker do this little trick. A few years back I almost bought a similar idea with two different sized camp/hunter knives and wish I had. Now I'm also thinking it would be kewl to have another sheath so one could carry the folder independently from the fighter. Really nicely done. Maybe you will have a set like this at Blade for us all to handle.

Hi Loren, thank you for the nice compliment. I do figure though, my neighbors would disagree- that a tobacco spittin, moonshine sipping, knife pounding hillbilly ain't got no class.:D:D:D

Hi Murray-I just about made an individual sheath for the folder that would attach to the fighter sheath with a clip, but it was going to be a little bigger then I was planning on so I opted for this.

Thank you guys,

Bill

well, I was gonna say "...for a hillbilly":D

But really, it's surprising to me when makers who display their knives here don't follow up compliments with a thank you. It's nice to see that when it happens:).

I hope you don't mind Bill but since this thread is about one of your sets, I thought some may not have seen this fantastic set you made a little while back.

Thank you Kevin, very kind of you to post this. That set was a lot of fun to make and turned out really cool, but the case was absolutely some of the prettiest maple I have ever worked with. I don't remember how many coats of tru oil I applied to it but it was a bunch. Thank you.

Bill

Wow.!!! Mr. Buxton I must confess I was out of the loop for quite some time but admired your earlier work back when you were selling a refined but simple 52100 for not too much money. It was almost within reach of my budget.Well now having seen your more recent work I am stunned by the development. It is absolutely breath taking. I was wondering if you could perhaps not get any better for awhile so that my income has a chance to catch up with the value of your talent?

Bill -- my initial thought re the folder sheath had been the same as yours and my conclusion was also the same. I just thought that a totally separate case for the folder would be great so the owner could carry the folder even when not carrying the FB.

WoW!! that set and case are really something. Bet you had fun doing those and the owner is real proud to have that set I'm sure.

Beautiful lines, love the fighter and it's one of my all time favourites thats been on the forum for a while!!

Thank you all for the nice comments on the set, and again thank you Kevin
for posting it.

Have a great weekend,

Bill
