I love Craigslist!

I got 41 files, a mix of Champion, red tang Simonds files, a few misc, one Nicholson, mostly flat, 2 or 3 half round, 2 triangle, a file brush, and a 8.5 # Sears anvil (he threw it in for free)

All for $35 Most are never used/ lightly used, a few have some surface rust (prob make those into knives) Now I have some semblance of a file set

Now all I need is to learn how to use them

Don't stack your files.
Files damage other files. I never let my files touch eachother.

Nice score. Interesting little anvil as well

I know, I know. He had them all thrown into the box. I actually gingerly placed them that way for the picture as to not damage them any further from what the previous owner had done.

One of the 8" champion ones already was ground down by someone and looks like they meant to make a knife out of it. I think that will be the first sacrificial lamb so to speak.

As soon as I get a setup that is hot enough to anneal it is getting thrown in

I threw mine in the fire place for the night. Packed inbetwee two blocks of wood it wirked fine
