New Fillet Knife

Thanks for the kind comments everyone.

Bret, thank you for your comment also. If you see anything that you think I could improve on please let me know? I don't mind if it's here in this thread. That really goes for everyone. I welcome the critique. I can only improve from it.

That really is an impressive piece, Chris. Blade shape looks excellent and useful. Handle looks incredibly useful. That's definitely one to be proud of.

Thank you Todd. I think I am going to take it over to our buddy Chuck.

As promised I will show finished pics.
I etched my mark. It didn't darken up like I had hoped but it's deep and clear.

I peened and domed the pins. I kinda like domed pins.

this shows the black liners and the distal taper to needle thin.

Thanks for looking.

First thing I noticed on the final pic was the hammered pins- I like 'em too! :thumbup:

Tastefully done and very functional looking. I fished saltwater commercially for many years back in the day and have handled many fillet knives. Mine were all crude but functional Dexter-Russell's. Maybe time for a nice one for a change. :D As I said Chris, very inspirational. :thumbup:

Looks like it is ready to get to work, good job Chris. 15N20 makes a great knife steel, great flex and a nice distal taper too. I would like to hear how it performs at cutting fillets. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for all the comments. I will try to get out fishing soon. The rain here has water high and dirty so catching may be tough.

Looks really cool Chris - should make a great fishing knife !!! :thumbup::thumbup::)

Agreed with Primble. Great photos of the start to finish and looks beyond great Chris, something I've always wanted to try my hand in as well.

Wow, Chris, that's a superlative knife!! :thumbup::thumbup:
Incredibly nice work, and thanks for showing it; I've thoroughly enjoyed this thread! :D:D
