Below are our 3 mid-tech outdoor knives. We use CNC milling to help shape the knife and then do a lot of hand sanding and finishing, heat treating etc. on each one. We do everything in house including harvesting the wood for our Yew scales! For more info and photos or to purchase a knife visit our website. *A note to our american customers: the US dollar is currently a lot stronger than the Canadian dollar, which means approximately another 20% savings for you!*

All three knives are now available in 3 different surface finishes. CNC satin, Hand rubbed satin, and mirror. In combination with the different scale colors this makes for a lot of photos so I haven't posted them all here. There are photos of every combination on our website.

The Kermode is a fillet knife designed for the common game fish on BC’s west coast: salmon, halibut and ling cod among others. It will work well for any fish but the blade length is especially suited to large fish. It also performs well as a boning knife. The blade is designed to have enough stiffness to give good feedback while being flexible and thin enough to cut excellent fillets. Scales are available in 4 colors of G10: Hunter Orange, Neon Green, Black and Royal Blue as well as western yew wood. Comes with a Kydex sheath; a belt loop (easily attachable with Chicago screws) is an optional extra.

Osprey:

The osprey is the larger of our fixed blade outdoor knives, designed for heavier duty cutting tasks. A 5.5" blade and grippy handle give this knife great balance and hand feel. Scales are available in 3 colors of G10: Olive-Drab green and Hunter orange and camo as well as Western Yew wood. Comes with a left or right handed Kydex sheath.

Really struggling not to buy the fillet knife. I have one of your Chefs knives and its been awesome in the kitchen. Holds an edge really well and requires almost no blade maintenance. Is it possible for you guys to make the sheaths for lefthanded people? ie put the belt loop on the other side of the sheath?

Glad to here the chef's is to your liking!

We do offer both right and left handed sheaths on our osprey and coho knives as they are symmetrical so we can simply flip the knife while molding the sheath to make it a lefty. The fillet knife sheath on the other hand isn't symmetrical because of the shape of the blade so at the moment we are only offering right handed sheaths. I'd be happy to work with you to figure something out though. Would you be carrying the knife on a belt frequently?

Is the cnc satin finish with the horizontal lines I see on the web site, I love that

Will the kermode stay in the kydex if carried upside down

Thanks

Yep, the "cnc satin finish" has horizontal lines. That was our standard until recently when we started doing the smooth satin and mirror finishes without lines as well. Yes the Kermode will stay in its sheath if carried upside down in all but the most severe cases. The kydex is molded for nice solid retention; The knife sort of clips in to place in the sheath.

thanks,
mike

I don't plan on belt carrying it but it did have the 2 holes on the wrong side of the sheath for the belt loop attachment for a left handed person. I mean you really only clean fish back at camp/base/home or on shore at the marina so don't need teh belt loop at all. Is it possible to not have those 2 holes at the top where the belt loop is attached? Are the kydex holes tex-loc compatible?

Most people order the knife without the belt loop because, as you said, usually fish are filleted later; however I do know some fishermen who carry their fillet knife on a wading belt. For this reason we made the belt loop an option. If the two holes at the top were a deal breaker for a potential customer then yes we could make a sheath without them. That being said the holes are nicely finished with eyelets and are useful even when no belt loop is attached, hanging the sheath up for example. The eyelets are spaced 1.5" apart so they are tek-lok compatible.

We sold almost all our Coho outdoor knives at a local fishing and hunting show this weekend, a few satin are left. We're dropping the price of our Osprey with the CNC finish by 20% for the next two weeks! With G10 scales they are now $135.20 Canadian or approximately $106 USD, gotta love that exchange rate if you're in the US!

We've got some spalted western maple scales available for our outdoor knives! We harvested and processed this maple tree ourselves. They will be posted on our website tomorrow

we also are now offering the kermode fillet knife in red g10
