New Flashlight

This thread has been moved to Gadgets & Gear due to it's lack of any W&SS discussion.

I recently got a Quark 123-2 (link) and am very happy with it... it has 5 brightness settings, and has an S-O-S mode, a beacon mode, and a strobe mode. It runs on 2 CR123s. The lowest setting is only 0.2 lumens (called "moonlight") but has a burn time of 30 days! :D At first I thought that 0.2 lumens was almost a joke but it is actually VERY useful at helping you find your way if you wake up in the middle of the night without destroying your low light vision. It can also be used on the lowest setting as a "night light" (pointed toward the ceiling or a wall) if you are sleeping in strange surroundings - like when you are camping (note the WS&S content :D)...

The light is about the diameter of my middle finger and about an inch longer. I comes with a set of batteries, a belt holster, a pocket clip, and a few other accessories.

If you like to watch vids, there are several Quark 123-2 videos on YouTube...

My favorite light is an HDS. Built like a tank and always works. It's just a little too big for pocket carry, so it's my winter carry in a jacket pocket.

A few months ago I got a (second) Zebra light SC60 with warm tint. Been carrying it a lot. Very intuitive UI. Only complaint is having to lock it out because of the soft touch switches.

LD10+ is a great light, I have the R4 version and it's crazy bright even on regular AA's, and even better on Eneloop type rechargeables.

Where did you find that? Been waiting to see that at a dealer. I could order it direct, like I've gotten several "non-existent" H30w headlamps, but was hoping to just get it the "normal" way.

Those HDS lights look like they might get the nod, no one using 4 sevens lights? No long term review? I remember a year or so ago those were getting rave reviews.

Nothing at all wrong wrong with my fenix, was, and is a great light. I really have two nice flashlights that I use a lot, my fenix and an Inova, don't remember the model. I want to replace the Inova with a modern more efficient light that is smaller with mutiple brightness settings, the fenix isn't going to get tossed by any stretch, still gonna be on my belt next to my wave everyday. The Inova on my pack strap is probably gonna go into the drawer by the fridge though. :D Chris

They really are extremely well built. What are your preferences? My recommendation is the 100 hi CRI, it renders colors just about perfect.

My Fenix P3D has been on my belt as my EDC now for several years. Great little light. Don't know its there until I need it and when I grab it, it has the light brightness for all occasions.
