i need a knife to replace my sog flash II $100 and under range, i was thinking about Camillus HEAT. but am open to suggestions. pre-reqs: combat folder, holds an edge well, 3.5-4 in blade, be able to take a little bit of brybar actioin:D so lets her some suggestions

I seemed to have lost my Flash II so I've ordered a Heat to replace it. I played with it at a local store and it seem really well made and very sturdy...More substantial then the Flash...

Buck Strider 880, if you still can find one, otherwise a Ka-Bar Mule. Cheap and tough.

I might be wrong but I think you can get a Chinook II for 100$, it seems to fit the description perfectly. BTW do you still have your mini grip?

How bout a sog X-ray vision? Great lock, pretty strong tip, ats-34, bout 3 3/4 inches, under $100.00.

I like my Heat for the wow fast factor, but its not as strong as I'd like it to be as an edc knife. I love it but it seems (IMHO) more like a toy than a serious bet your life on tool.

I've been looking at that AG Russell titanium framelock. The bead blasted one.Looks good for 100,I think. Those Italian knifemakers put out some great knives!! IMO He calls it,the Italian Made Tactical #FX180

Hey VCM3 IMHO that Italian Tactical is the BEST $100 knife that you can buy!! I've got one of each and of which one is EDC'd alot for about 2yrs now. Everyone who handles it is impressed with it. Only downside it was more money when I bought mine.

inspecto, what,s up,how's the 710,I miss it! I got a customer appreciation 20% discount catalogue from AG,and that is one of the knives,I'm probably gonna get it,especially after what you say about it,Thanks.

Yo VCM3, the 710 so shiney and nice i only play with it while watching tv! thanx agin. I have so many in rotation now that I'm trying to hold off adding any more. Lucky Dog you ,20% off on AG thats great how did you manage that one ????????? I want one too.lol

I've been buying knives from them, for what seems to be forever,so I go on a list, according to them. The last 4 years or so I got this offer, never used it yet,I don't think.I think for sure,I'm gonna pick that one up.Maybe a D-2 Deer hunter,or a Bird and Trout D-2. Good to hear you're loving that knife.

I second the Buck/Strider 880. Even the discontinued Mini 881 is a little giant of a knife and perhaps one of the best discontinued knives still available. You still see them come up for sale everynow and then on the used forums.

no i gave it to my little brother :foot:

The Heat is a very good knife for the money, but if you want to pry something with it, the blade will break. It is simply not thick enough to survive such tasks. Same with every Spyderco folder I'm aware of. Even the Chinook and the Manix have delicate tips, so consider something else if you have really rough use in mind. The older Camillus Cuda models had very thick and very strong blades, but they are discontinued. So if you want a tough folder around $100, which can handle some prying, stick with the Buck Striders, or something with a sturdy drop point, or tanto blade over .125 thickness.

Ok i think i have it down to these two: MOD-ATFK, BM-520SBK. which is better and/or fits my Criteria?
