I'm rather to to folding knives. I usually stick to autos and a couple of flippers. Now I have a new Zero Tolerance 6020CF. The problem is when I try to deploy the blade I can't. My thumb is not strong enough unless I use excessive force. Is that what you guys refer to as lock stick? I plan on oiling it but is their any other remedies that you can suggest? Rather a bit of money to have spent to have this kind of issue. Any and all responses are greatly appreciated.

For starters make sure you are not putting pressure on the lock side as to push the detent harder into the knife. Secondly when you are pushing on the thumb disk do not push out but gently push up. When I say up I mean in the direction where the blade would be once open.

Some of the 620s and 630s have a really tight detent but they do wear in and become perfect after some use. They are awesome knives so I hope you will keep working with it!

Good luck!

Thanks Whitty, yea I try pushing on that thumb disc from any angle possible with the same negative response. Detention ahh..that is the proper term. Well I'll certainly be pulling on that thumb disc quite a bit until I'm able to finally push on it. Man I'm gonna have one hell of a thumb.

Whitty put me on the right track with the word detent. So I looked it up and one of the responses was to make sure your fingers were not on the lock bar. Sure enough, this 6020 has a lock bar that is quite large. practically half the size of the entire backside. So I retract my fingers quite a bit and this resolved 75% of the issue. The rest I can work with. I told you I was new to folders. Lol

Yup!! As with most ZTs.....no pressure on the lock bar!!!
Good luck with that bad ass new blade brother!!

I would extend that rule of thumb to any frame lock.

Good choice on ZT! Every ZT I've had or handled has been quite nice and the Emerson designs are no exception.

Thanks Palone. It's definitely one of the bigger knives I own. Benchwarmers. You'd think I know. My only other Zt is the 0450CF and its my EDC and I love it. Perfect for my front pocket.
