NEW FOR 2014 Page up on Cold Steel Website

I was thinking in terms of some of the large knives and daggers from Windlass, CAS Iberia, the old Generation 2 stuff, etc., which run around the same price range for similar sizes, materials, etc. Sure, you can find cheaper yet quality items like the Condor stuff, but I'm just pointing out that the price is pretty par for the course compared to several other manufacturers.

Not familiar with CAS Iberia. I know Windlass runs sub-$100 on most of their big bowies, and they supposedly use 1080 steel(though I've heard from people who aren't convinced that's the case). I think this is the largest bowie in their line, 13 inch blade, wood handle, leather sheath, and it runs $90. I have it, actually, but haven't used it since, well, I don't knife fight, and I use my machetes for outdoor work, so I dunno how well the steel actually holds up:

Being a folder fan, not much of the 2014 products interests me.

I still have a few previous Cold Steel products that I haven't picked up yet:

The Smachet and Kopis machetes, plus maybe a G10 Espada XL. (The latter preferably with a stone-washed blade.)

I really like the 1917 bowie and the thai machete but what's up with the sharpening notch being so far forward of the guard? Wish they would move it back to the guard - it looks weird in it's present location.
