The Frenzy looks pretty cool! Great to see that CS is back in the XL folder business. I was beginning to worry there.

Leaves me kind of cold upon first impression, but I would so like to have a new large CS folder, that I might as well plan the purchase in my budget.

Hopeless Cold steel fan ;^)

Yes, and I don't own a Swift, either. $140 is more than I'm willing to pay for the Swift, and it's more than I'm willing to pay for the Frenzy.

That's 5.5 inches of CTS-XHP... what's the cheapest knife you've seen using this steel?

I like how Cold Steel always offers a larger (3.5"+) blade on their knives. I would like to see this model in a cheaper steel, and G-10 handle. They could have made this "a folding version of the fixed Spike series".

I'd like to see this knife in a cheaper steel as well. There was no need to move away from Aus 8. I've got dozens of CS knives in Aus 8 and that fact has never been a limitation.

I hate to brag but damn I'm good! PDF page 88-http://media2.fwpublications.com/BLA/BLADSC1.pdf And the crowd goes wild:D Wow, it looks really "stabby"!

nice going thank you Sir.

im in the camp of do not like, not impressed. happy with big blade, but i'm not digging it at all other than the thinner factor, as some of those xls are just to big, not length but sheer overall size.

Yeah if i ever gonna do XL folder, i'll also prefer large blade with a slim profile, and this one looks nice. Although 5.5 inch is still a lil bit excessive basically limiting this to SD purpose only.

BTW, anyone think that CS should also produce something with the opposite blade profile, like the Hissatsu? That'd be so cool

Not interested .I think CS loosing their way . Thy have made nothing I am interested in last couple years. I still prefer the older models over newer stuff .

I'm a long time enthusiast of CS martial folders in 5.5" blade and larger . The Espada and Talwar in 5.5" are my EDC , along with a crooked cane . I've got all the big Rajah , Holdout and Voyagers . Really love these knives and much appreciate that CS produced them - because nobody else makes knives like that !

But I was very disappointed with the Talwar being discontinued and have been unimpressed with the newer offerings thus far .

The " Frenzy" has a blade pattern that I associate with very fine carving , etching and certain surgical procedures . But you don't want a long blade for fine tip control . As a martial blade , the Frenzy looks plenty stabby and might be good in penetration of heavy clothing or light armor . But there's zero belly for slashing . So I'm just not sure what it's supposed to be used for , except as a collectable ?

I don't think it needs to be IN that steel if it's gonna jack the price up that high. And oh, yeah, cheapest knife in that steel? Probably the XL Talwar, which you can get for $110(maybe less, with them being discontinued now).

Rawles Voyager is 5.5 in. of CTS-XHP, DLC coated for $80 on most sites

that's really hard to beat (TriAd, DLC, wieght-to-size ratio, grivory grippy scales, etc)
