I asked Mr Winston about making me a Ti framelock, and he seemed pretty excited about the idea. This is the fruit of my request and David's hard work....The first ever framelock folder from the bench of Mr David Winston:

8 1/8" overall
D2 tool steel blade, hand rubbed satin finish.
Orange peel texture Ti with countersunk embelishment.

This thing is smooth like glass...makes my sebenza feel stiff in comparison. It locks up like a bank fault with a solid THUNK. Knowing David's knives, i knew it would be perfect, but this thing knocked my socks off. This was my first experience with ORDERING a custom...and David was awesome to work with. He listened to my needs, and what i was looking for, and make the perfect tool, and in a timely manner. I never knew what all the fuss was about ordering a custom knife...but now i see...and its worth the fuss.

Thanks David!

arinvolvo,Congrats on your knife.I know what you mean about David's folders being smooth.I have a # 14 Folding Hunter, and it's so smooth,I don,t have another custom folder that opens, closes, unlocks,as smooth, with incredible tight lock up and strength. Thanks for the photo's,cause it helps to see the knife,it's awesome. After David posted in Makers,I immediatly contacted him to talk about this knife, and the possibilities of having a similar one made.He is so patient, and we tossed ideas. The man is a true gentleman, and a great craftsmen/knifemaker.After speaking with him about this new model, and others, through e-mails,and the phone,I was tickeld, the attention he shows to his customers is unmatched. I will patiently, and I mean patiently, await his next contact. It's hard to be patient when your jumping out of your skin, over a new knife idea from a master like David Winston.Congrats Again on the knife, and Thanks Again for the pictures.David,Thanks so much for everything. VCM3,Vince

Please post pics of yours when you get it, i would love to see the evolution of david's framelocks. David said that he really enjoyed making this one, so maybe he will add it to his list offered models.

Also, if you dont mind, id like to see pics of the #14 folder, if you can manage it.

arin,I will, probably gonna be a little while,I don't want to pest him.But we spoke of possible onlays of His micarta, kinda special,on the side without the clip.I was not too specific,I told him that what he creates I would like. I verbally told him of what I thought would be good.Frankley,if he duplicated yours that'd be cool too! But I think he wants to do a little different, cause it's a new thing(framelock)to him,so I think he's gonna put some type of flair to it.I like the Blade shape, very practical.I'll put pics up when it goes down.

Very nice looking framelock. I'd never heard of him :foot: until I saw his pearl and damascus wharncliffe necker on sale on this forum a few days ago (see below). I then found his website. Very nice stuff. This folder looks great, congrats!
