Wow, i had always seen his knives on websites, and felt they looked nice, but i never saw one in person, until today, and yes, i bought it. :)

I got a beautiful recurve with a blued damascus bolster and CF scales. While i was looking at some other knives, i looked at the JW Smith folders, and no doubt, i will get one soon, as theyre very smooth and well made, but, i will say this, the Frederick is every bit as smooth and well put together, its rock solid, and fit and finish are flawless, so i can recommend him to anyone wanting a tactical model with the added flair of blued damascus bolsters and nicely contoured CF handles.

Nice upscale tactical folder, my newest custom. Heres a pic.

That is a very nice looking piece. It has some JW Smith lines too it also, or either JW Smith's have some Fredrickson lines to them!

So you checked out a JW Smith and the Fredrickson is right up there with it? I've seen several and thought they were extremely nice looking and practical knives. Glad to know they compare favorably with one of my favorite makers!

There is a reason for similarity - guess who taught his son-in-law how to make knives? Aaron has really come on - does some absolutely fantastic work. Also John's son Chris is taking after his father and producing some really nice knives.

Hi Art. Yeah, it does look like the JWS and Frederick knives share similar lines, and i guess, according to what i just read by Bill, theres a good reason for that.

I was actually at BladeArt in Miami on monday, and had the chance to examine several knives closely, including a few JWS's and Fredericks, and yes, according to what i saw, the Fredericks have the same rock solid, super smooth action of the JWS's, with fit and finish to match. Cant go wrong with either. The ONLY thing i would wish for on the Fredericks is a blasted Ti clip instead of what looks like a polished SS one, though i guess thats a matter of taste. One things for sure, i wouldnt hesitate in the future to buy a knife from either.
