new friction folder up for critique

WOW, that looks ineradicable!! Now i have to step up my game on my friction folders, they fail in comparison

Add a pocket clip and swap the G10 for CF or micarta and I'm all over it. I love the angular design much like i love Burnley's Kwaiken and Laconico's Slim EDC.

Also, could you make the tang into a bottle opener?

absolutely open to the idea, but ive never worked with cf. I HATE the smell of micarta. I'm a fan of both those designs also. If I were to make the tang into a bottle opener too I'd feel as if I was taking someones trademark feature. michael morris comes to mind. And the clip is a good suggestion.

I really like it. Many times I see newer makers start off with friction folders due to them being less complex than locking knife. Unfortunately sometimes they seem very rough around the edges. I know that a lot of makers like doing the rustic look but I think their is a huge difference in doing a controlled toxified look that is intentional and the distressed look because the maker simply hasnt developed their skills past that point yet. Needless to say this has made me weary of friction folders as I often ask myself "did they make this because they like friction folders and want to do the design justice or are they make this because it was an easy knife for them to build and it may not be worth my expense." Glad to see there are still makers who will do former and really elevate what a friction folder can be. I dont get even the slightest impression from your pictures that you made the knife as an easy way out. You seem very capable. And these days that seems to be a rare and welcome change among the many prison shank makers popping up in recent years. No disrespect meant to those who are in that category. I know you have to start somewhere. I just hope they are pricing accordingly . Very nice knife you made there. It really looks exceptional.

First off, I agree that your quality of construction, grinds, skill, etc. look excellent. As one who carries a friction folder every day (one of many other knives) your tang is a nice length but looks to be too sharp-edged to not damage the average pocket (I may be wrong, just going by pictures), and my personal preference would be for a *slight* radiusing of the corners at the butt of the knife given its length, as my hand would cover the end of the knife when using it and the pointy corners get old in use. That, however, is wholly subjective and varies by the size of hand of the user, so I'm just telling you how I want mine to be. ;)

Very nice work---I LOVE a well executed friction folder, and this is one of the nicer I've seen in quite a while.

Thank you for pointing this out, I think you're probably right on both accounts. I haven't had enough carry and use time with it yet to find flaws i need to address, but i'll be paying attention to these areas specifically now. Thanks.

Great work Leif, looks very classy

A nice looking knife, very clean and elegant. I am no fan of sharp corners on things I carry around with me.

My lord this is nice. Ever considering selling your work?
