New FRN Delica

Hey guys. I am new to this section of the forum. I have been away from Spyderco for a while. I thought it was time to check them out again.

I have owned many Spydercos, but never an FRN model. So, I finally picked one up. It is a dark green D4 with the ZDP-189 blade. I am loving it so far. Sharp as hell out of the gate and feels great in the hand. I have a feeling this will not be my last FRN. Here are some pics.

Yes, that is a damascus lanyard bead. :)

Nice pics dude! I'm really digging the bead. I have my blue-handled zdp delica in my pocket right now!
 
That bead looks familiar. Ariel Salaverria?

It looks good on your Delica.

thank you very much!

when i bought the knife, they did not have written what color it was. from the pics online, it looked black. i am still happy with it not being black, but the bead and black lanyard would look better on a black one. oh well...
 
Welcome to this neck of the woods. Great knife you picked up. AFAIK the ZDP-189 Delica came standard with the green FRN handles.
I think it was a Sprint run. Very cool lanyards.:thumbup:

i am thinking of sending it to krein for a regrind. anyone know if this will void spydercos warranty?

No love for the flat saber grind? I did not think I would like it either when I picked up my waved Delica, but it has grown on me. Of course mine is VG-10 and not ZDP.

lol, i have no problem with the flat saber grind. it is sharp as hell too. i just love tom's regrinds. :)
 
I recently got an E4 ZDP. Great knife, great steel. I'm considering a D4 in ZDP as well. I also love FRN; I wish more knives would be made with it.
 
Grats on that ZDP Delica. The edge holding on that blade is absurd you will love it! Personally I prefer the FRN handled Spydercos more than any other. I cannot wait for the Stretch II with FRN in ZDP 189.
 
Nice pics. Classy bead. I have the same knife in my pocket as I type this, also with a lanyard, but my bead is just a simple skull.
 
The FRN Delica4 is a great knife. I have two, one in CE and one in SE; but the one I carry is SE and VG-10 blade. It's a small knife that fills the hand very well.

were there any other frn zdp-189 delicas other than the blue and green?
 
I have several Delicas that I rotate for EDC. The ZDP version is the BEST.... like carrying a chainsaw. I recently switched to a foliage green Delica in VG10 after carrying the ZDP version for several months. Can't hold out much longer - going to carry the ZDP one again.

I can't wait for the Stretch II in ZDP189 either.
