New G10 Griptilian in 20CV

I tried to get a couple more detailed pics of the G10. Sorry for the harsh lighting in the second one, but it's not easy to get the 'grain' to show up otherwise.

Finally got a text from the post office that my 555-1 will be delivered today! Now I just have to be patient for my new scales to arrive.

FINALLY! I say that because my postman didn't show up until 8:05pm today! I'm the last stop on his route! But she finally came in and to my surprise she's actually #72 of 1000. And by far the sharpest knife I've ever received. She blows through phone book paper like a scalpel. Bevels are even from one end of the blade to the other. She feels really nice in hand but the scales are going to go. I've already ordered a new set of scales for her and these ones will go on my sons mini. Though I might steal the blue standoffs as the set of scales I ordered come with plain standoffs. Overall I'd say Benchmade knocked it out of the park! Only problems I see is that I might have to order another full sized Griptilian now as I love this blade shape, and while I love a deep carry clip, I might have to strip the paint off of this one and get it to bare metal, or order an anodized one on line somewhere.

Yes the pics look great. Nice knife.

Received the full size 20cv grip from my BM dealer a couple weeks ago. I personally like the feel of the buffed g10. Most spydies and kershaw knives have what I call the raw g10 which is more grippy but rougher on your pants. The 20cv is identical to my m390 BM's. Razor sharp and glides right thru styrofoam egg cartons and newspaper in an effortless manner. I also got the m390 volli. Boy what a beaut! That thin blade is beyond sharp. I am very pleased with these two knives and am patiently waiting for the new frame lock to come out. With the knife sharp and tune up policy;how can you go wrong!

Looks and feels hollow ground.

Innerweb says yes and that is what "hg" stands for in "555hg" model designation.

HG = HOLLOW GRIND

From a very large and reputable dealer :

Description
BM555HG: 555HG Mini Hollow Ground Griptilian
Benchmade

The Griptilian is born of custom knife maker Mel Pardue's passion for functional designs. You release the creature's ferocity with a thumb stud. At the very heart of the Griptilian, is the exclusive AXIS™ locking mechanism. This modern marvel gives life to a cutting tool like you have never experienced before, especially in a lightweight folder. Rock-solid ambidextrous function is sure to tame the most die-hard of traditionalists. And you can grab onto the lightweight, injection molded handle with its grip-textured surface and rib covered spine that grabs you right back for a "can't let go" grip.

I've found that pictures can play tricks on how knives actually look in real life, unfortunately.

I have several Grips and prefer the Doug Ritter's. So, I wasn't real excited about the new ones and not tempted to buy. However, yesterday I was at my local knife shop. He had both of the new Grips in stock, and I was able to handle both. I thought they both looked much better in person than in the photos. As others mentioned, these looked perfect, blades centered. I really liked the blue standoffs (anodize anything and I'm halfway to buying it). I think I might have to get the larger version. Hopefully, the Ritters will come out in a similar configuration, but I doubt I can wait that long.

The sheepsfoot blade are hollow ground without a doubt.

The standard blades are hollow ground but I thought the custom shop blades are flat ground. That was why I asked, this being a special steel run.

Can anyone definitively confirm if the 20CV sheepsfoot blades are flat or hollow ground?

I too prefer the Ritters, but there is a way to have your cake and eat it too. Here is my rendition.

Elite,

Very nice. Since the new blades are so nicely centered, I was afraid that making the switch to a Ritter blade might mess that up. But, yours looks fine.

I agree the QC is better than any other BM I own. CPM20CV on this knife is the sharpest out of the box of any knife Ive owned. I would have prefered a satin clip. I beleive they may have used the painted clip either to save a few cents or the black painted is a richer and darker black (aesthetics).

I thought of making a custom knife of this one, but it was so well put together and nice, I decided to build up a Ritter M390 in grey, white and blue.

Should make quite the pair. I cant wait to compare them side-by-side.
