New GEC Jacks with pruner blades

The only knife that is more exciting to me right now is the 2011 BF forum knife. Otherwise, my jaw hit the floor when I first saw these easy-open weaver jacks.
I'm super juiced up on the single-blade configuration too. It calls out to me on so many levels, especially with the ebony handles.

I'm in for one. I think the EO cutout on the dogleg frame is cool, and I can find plenty of use for that blade.

I like the blade shape and the easy opening feature. Not a fan of the Rust micarta scales though. Add a pen blade to make an interesting pattern for sure.

That blade shape looks more like a rope knife type than a pruner. All the pruners Ive seen had a curved bill type blade.--KV

I was thinking that too KV. It is advertised as a Weaver Jack. I suppose originally for cutting heavy yarn or textiles i.e. perhaps used in rug or blanket making.

That blade is a pretty close match to the File & Wire cotton sampler. Can't tell you how I pined for GEC to make a knife in that style. It's a nice looker in the ebony.

I was not exactly sure of the official blade style with this one when I posed this. I did a quick search online before posting and could not find anything close to this other than described as a pruner style blade.

Does a blade like this even fall into a existing category? It is not exactly as big or deeply curved as most pruner blade examples and not exactly a cotton sampler either.

It does look like a Rope knife.

When they add the Pen secondary it will be similar to CASE's long gone Loom Fixer.

I hear they are going to offer it with THREE blades at one end, can't quite get my head round that one!

They will offer it with an end cap too. (Sort of forerunner to the up and coming Forum Knife from GEC)

it's great to hear so much interest in this american knife from a great company. as to myself i'll pass on this one.--dennis

I'm assuming that the 3 blade version will not have the easy open cutout since it has a clip blade and a pen blade in addition to the main blade?

I want one.

The stag handled Northfield with pen blade is up on the GEC site. Looks just like the old Case 17 pattern Loomfixer jack.

The first one with 2 blades is up and it doesn't have the easy open cutout. Safe bet that the 3 won't have it either.
