EDIT: Here's the Bigger knife. I call it the G3-CRP (Combat Ready Parang)...(or PorkSlapper for short..
)
1/4 O1 steel, convex edge. Blades around 7 inches or so..Natural Micarta with red liners and tube rivets.
Hello all.
Here is a new one that I designed a couple of months ago. I out sourced the blade (thanks Bryan) due to my not being able to get to the shop as much as usual.
I wanted a basic design that had a leaf shaped blade, and a comfortable handle, similar to others I have owned and liked.
I have a couple of these blanks, so this one received the basic heavy duty handle, the next one, will be rosewood with a red liner and brass pins.
This is one of 3 designs I had made up recently.
Tomorrow, I will have the chopper of the group ready for pics. I think you guys will like that one as well.
The third design is my "sojourn" which I entered into the "bushcraft" knife challenge. Its the NEW and IMPROVED version, with a thinner blade, and a more comfortable handle. I should have pics of that up soon as well. Hopefully in a day or two.
I will post all the pics in this thread.
Guys, as soon as I can, I will be getting my makers mark going...it doesn't make much sense right now..I don't have a shop I can use regularly, so I have to borrow time when I can to make these.
Well, back to this one. I wanted to keep it tough and simple. The handle is FAT, because its for me, and I need a big handle to keep my monkey hands from getting worn out..
I attached the handle slabs with tube rivets. Very basic design really, I have seen many knives of this style of late. So, nothing new under the sun here. Just a few tweaks that I made for my taste of what a knife should do.
G3's Rules of a good knife.
1. continuously curved edge, aids in sharpening with many mediums..
2. handle and edge VERY close to each other for added leverage.
3. comfortable handle with good grip in many positions, suited to its intended uses.
4. convex edge for a general purpose knife, for the added durability.
5. Looks cool next to a good brew.
