Steelerfan88, I know that there's a hundred opinions on which belt grinder you should buy by a hundred really fine knife makers but I think most of them will tell you that a KMG is a really solid good grinder even if they personally use something else. I started with a 1 1/2 hp KMG and about two years later put a 2 hp motor on it and had a 220 volt outlet installed for it. I could have used the 1 1/2 hp motor setup for years more but I just wanted to buy something new. You made a good choice and will be able to do first rate work with some practice...ok a lot of practice. Some of the best makers out there use KMG grinders. Good for you! Show us your first blade! Congrats, that's what my kmg started as also. It's slowly been converted to variable speed and had many new attachments added to the inventory. The great thing about the KMG, is the amount of aftermarkets parts for them. Solid machine, there are some issues with mine. But they are easily fixed.

Yeah ! I am REALLY looking forward to getting started. I assembled my drill press & porta-band station tonight. It should work out well for me :)

Good move on the portaband setup. I've got the same, except Milwaukee variant. Saves a boatload of space and easy to move. I recommend a momentary foot switch as well if you don't already have one.
