New griptilian

Lol back to square 1. Lots of votes for D2, but pretty much even on the others.

Anyone know how the image personalization works? Does it replace the benchmade logo?
 
It is hard to go wrong with S30v or 154cm. I would go with the S30v or N690 as my top two, but they other two steels are good steels as well.
 
I went with N680, but i did buy this knife specifically to be the folder I'll take on canoe trips.

Is that still hollow ground? I remember reading somewhere that the 555 from the custom shop had a flat grind instead of the hollow grind, which was a major reason for me not purchasing one.
 
The 550 in the pic is a hollow grind. I received it a couple of months ago from the custom shop if the timeline helps.

Awesome, I'll have to look into that! My 555 is one of my favorite knives, I wouldn't mind trying the exact same pattern in a few different steels :D
 
I have a Griptilian in D2. It's the sharpest knife I've ever had out of the box; never have I been able to return the edge to that level of sharpness :rolleyes: I sharpen freehand on stones, and my skills are adequate but not optimal. The D2 can be difficult to sharpen for me, but I've heard it holds an edge longer than the 154CM. I can't comment on N680 or S30V, because I've never owned a knife in either.
 
I don't have Griptilian line in N680, but I have several Lonewolf N680 knives (saber grind). They are very sharp (all came in razor sharp, sharper than my Grips in 154cm or S30V). It does take very sharp initial edge, I guess; but, does not hold the edge as well as 154 or S30V. But very easy to resharpen. Supposedly very rust resistance and having very positive experience with it so far.
