New Guntings have arrived!

Is the new version still capable of shucking oysters?

On the serious side - are the new ones available through dealers or distributers if we order?

The option for different blades was discarded awhile ago.
That's Spydercos decision.I was pretty keene on it.
You are correct. Its only a blade change everything else is the same..but after I thought it was OK I was then told there was no way it was going to happen.
I'm sorry. That's business reality...there's a cost factor..
I had several blade designs for the Gunting...
and yes I had a larger, longer blade to fit into the same handles...
I had several other configs...
But Spyderco cannot make and keep that many blades in stock...
I guess if there were Guntings flying out the door it would still be the same...
only then I might be able to have plain edge and partially serrated..
The Gunting is not only a self defense tool..
its a great edged tool period. It functions for fishing, hunting and s a SDR tool and a full force continuum tool.
I'm not a fan of fully serrated blades...but it might be cool..but because one might need a bit of Serrations I thought originally that partially serrated was best...
I was limited by Sal and Spyderco this time to choosing one type of edge. I chose partially serrated...
I'm very happy that Spyderco has chosen to still make me such a fine tool...

I'm going to have a some custom Guntings made with a larger, longer blade....check out www.CSSDSC.com for info in the future

AAUUUGGHHH This is not Steve but Bram...Steve stayed @ my house and I seem to be logged in on his account! AAAUUGGHHHHHHH

Hi, Steve, er, Bram... huh!??!?!?

;)

ehehhehh funny... hope you got that sorted out.

either way, the Gunting is super cool. Very nice edged tool. My sheath is coming soon... it is a under-the-belt-inside-the-waistband, tip-down, pivot-forwad, clip-removed kydex thang.

Can't wait...

Take care, sir

Ok ok..so I'm technology challenged..
I figured out to log out then re-log in as me....

The Gunting is still with us...whether or not its limited in blade choice...I got the blade I requested...great steel very sharp!
Its made incredibly well by Spyderco..
something that I'm very lucky...to have my tool be made as good as a custom..yet as a production model..

So get yourselves Guntings & Drones for Hannukah and Christmas...

We're still shipping plain edges and trying to honor orders placed.

We've finally completed the engineering overhaul and got the mfg process sorted. We've got product on the shelf and more in the works so delivery should be consistant.

Production capacity in the Golden plant is still limited, but improving all of the time. We have re-engineered and currently have inventory for all of the domestic models, for the first time ever

(Native, Military, Gunting, Gunting drone. Chinook II's will begin shipping Monday, Para-militaries and Yojimbos soon to follow).

As capacity increases, so will models.

Cool...received my updated Gunting (one of the few plain edge s30v's). Great piece! Spyderco did a really good job with these! The G10 is VERY grippy, and the compression lock is stiff, more stiff than the other compression lock Spydies I have (ATR, Vesuvius, and a Lil Temp. drop point).

Can anyone suggest where I can purchase a plain edge S30V Gunting?

I'm gonna take the plunge and buy one!

Thanks,
SIG

Thanks for the update, Bram.
Sia, as usually, a pleasure to see your creations. They seem to get better and better :)

Simona,

Innnnnnnnteresting....

Full-length Gunting, but why does it say "Custom Military"!?

Also... Is Spyderco licensing out the compression lock to custom makers!?? I am ALL over that!

Noo, not some creations, this is real photo ...photos ..

its a translation thing..it's a Custom Gunting, a hand made Gunting...: and it's a version I designed with the Military in mind...
it's double edged and it's got a full size blade...it's a bit over 3.5 inches of blade.
Thats why it says Custom-Military..on a GUNTING...add it together..
A Custom Military Gunting...OK???
Nice photos Simona...

That custom military looks even nicer than the damascus custom IMO.

That green G10 looks sweet. It's a nice change from the black we always see.

Hi Bram,

photos are from Gunting Museum , from Martin ...

I like both of them, with the "Custom Military" Gunting being the most interesting. I would love to get my hands on a longer-bladed Gunting as well as one with a shorter blade for jurisdictions that forbid anything over 2.5 inches. Of course a stock Gunting can be re-ground to a shorter length. :)
