Recommendation? New guy: Am I missing any bases in my current collection?

Looks like you have a pretty good line up to cover your bases. Few mora, bark river, axe, and a Fallkniven, with a couple modern folders. Not much you could not do with a combo or those. I have a Silky Saw in my "possible" kit, if I think I might need one.

I have a few machete and some ultra light folders like Opinel if I'm hiking and don't want extra weight. But I would think the Mora fill that "light but cut well" niche.

I also have a SAK on a neck sheath setup, so I can wear it under the shirt, and not worry about loosing it out of a pocket. It has an awl, blade, can opener, and larger bottle opener/screw driver. Also a leatherman wave if needed.

I have more than a few pocket fulls of modern folders, more than I can carry in traditional folders, custom fixed blades, big choppers, etc, etc.....

For EDC mountain life or town mode I always carry a fine blade folder of some type and a serrated Spyderco Pacific Salt. Comes in handy when cutting the heads off of copperhead snakes or light saw work/notchin when needed. The Matriarch may have its limitations when cutting close to a surface. Love the design though.

If you live in Chicago and plan to carry you need to find one or more knives to carry that have blades that are 2.5 inches or less for EDC. Knife Center has an interface that you can search their inventory for just such a knife.
Sound advice. Such a stupid law, when consider that with a permit I can carry my Steyr M9 concealed all over the city.

I'm glad I live 40 miles away from downtown.

You really appear to have a good, well thought out piece of kit. Things are covered very well. Personally, I would add a Swiss Army knife, a decent multi-tool, and a machete/large fixed blade. A Victorinox Cadet, Gerber MP-600 Pro Scout, and a Buck Froe would be my three choices.

I am a firm believer that someone should have about three to five knives that could cover the following:

1. Dress/travel knife.
2. Your EDC knife
3. Fixed blade, 3 to 5 inch blade
4. Multi-tool of some sort
5. Other (machete, axe, saw, etc).

Of course there is some flexibility in all of this. You could maybe combine #'s 1, 2, or if your EDC was fixed, the list could get shorter. You get the idea.
You might be able to accomplish all of this with only two or three items.
