New guy - BK2 strip & patina

Great post! You'll love the 14... I held a BK2 today for the first time(what a beast). I had a chance the handle a 2,7,9,15,16, 17 as well. I could not decide which one to get, but I think my next one will be the 2.
 
Thanks for posting the follow-up pics showing your knife after some use.. Noob question -- is the 'exposed' metal where the patina has been worn off now susceptible to rust? In other words does it need to be re-protected? I actually came back to this post as I was thinking of stripping my BK-16, but it doesn't get used too often and I don't want it to rust up if I put it away for a couple of months.
