New Guy Says 'Hello'...

Yangdu:

Wow... Thanks!

I'm still doing a bit of research so it'll be a little while yet. BTW I really dig the 16.5 WW2 in your DOTD. Interesting handle!

Welcome John!
You have discovered a Great group of people here!

Hello Ironhand, The military carried kukris you point out, {probaly Regimental or compsany purchas but possibly some private purchase as well.} are clearly weapon based kukri, most kukri in Nepal were primarily tools, indeed for the last 40 years even the Gurkhas kukri are primarily used to chop kindling & cut food for a curry. {I think the figure is used in combat 3 times in last 40 years.] They use guns & grenades {not to mention air support & rocket launchers in this day & age.} as weapons.

Thiner tips recieve more damage cutting wood, but I like them to but it primarily depends what you will use it for.

Either way Yangdo will sort you out properly if you supply pictures of your requirments.

When you see stock photos Never always ask for pics & specs. of the exact one you will be sent. All manufacturers kukris vary a great deal in weight , balance & feel even within "named styles"

I ended up sharking the M-43 in the 12/4 DOTD and a purse for Mrs. Ironhand. 2 days to ship from REno to Nashville.

Very impressed, though I only have phone pics til I get home Friday.
