im new to the forum and just waiting on my esee 6! love esee knives and im super stoked to join the club. Looking forward to a long awesome relationship with esee!

Congrats on the 6 and welcome to the addiction. There's plenty of kool-aid, just pick your flavor.

Welcome,

Glad to have you aboard. The ESEE forum, as Flexxx intoned is a great place. Quite frankly one of the most useful sections of Blade Forums IMHO.

God bless,
Adam

Congrats.....why did you pick the 6?

Do you like smaller blades? If so, pick up an Izula II or an ESEE-3MIL (-S if you like serrations). They are particular favorites of mine for EDC.

I have the 4, 5 and 6 but they won't get as much use unless I'm going out on a wilderness adventure. The Izula and 3 get use everyday.....even if it is cutting off a tag or opening a box.

i have a lot of edcs already, but believe me my next is gonna be an izula! honestly i went with the six because i hike and backpack a lot and i was just done messing with mid quality blades, like my gerbers, for those trips. Nothing against gerber, but after looking around, esee knives, particularly the 6, just fit the bill for for me! on another note though, what would do better on smaller end, a 3 or an izula?

Welcome. I'm relatively new here as well. I chose the 6 for my ESEE purchase. It arrived in perfect condition quickly from Dale. I have not encountered any rust whatsoever. Great handling knife.

Well, do you plan to carry it by itself? I think the 3 is more versatile by itself.....you can get serrated edges if you'd like also.

The izula or izula ii is a great small knife, but it would be harder to accomplish the tasks you could complete with the 3 fairly easy. The 3 is small enough to not be a burden but big enough to do some real work.....but not the work of a 6.

If you wanted to pair a knife with the 6, either would work. It just depends if you want a little more knife than the izula gives you. You could definitely carry the izula without noticing it where the 3 would be a bit bigger. That is the trade-off that you need to think about.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the purchase. I'm relatively new to the forum myself. I own the 6 and bought it to pair up with my Fallkniven F1. There will probably be more ESEE purchases in the near future including one for my daughter who wants to learn some bushcrafting skills with dad.

i actually never thought of doing the pairing thing, i was thinking more stand alone. but now that you mention it, i could piggy back an izula onto my 6 and have something a little better for small tasks. Then i could edc the izula by itself, i have an office job and im thinking an izula with a colorful paracord wrap will get less looks than a 3. but what the hell i may just get both

If you were just going to buy one, I think the 3 can handle more tasks.

I also think the 3 is easier to conceal for something to bring to work. A colorful wrap may attract more attention than the kydex sheath in a jacket or jeans pocket.....or attach the izula belt clip or the 3 belt clip and wear it on your belt or Inner Waist Band (IWB).

If I was just going to carry one blade, it would be the 3. I usually carry a serrated 3 and an izula II. The 3 horizontal with a BladeTech Klip along my back on the belt.....can't really tell it's there when a shirt isn't tucked in.

If you work in a very corporate office, the Izula in it's provided sheath will fit in your pocket or suit jacket pocket very easily.

I'd suggest getting both.....I think both are great, both pair well with the bigger knife.....one is better for the office environment/easier to carry and conceal while the other is a better 'only one knife in an urban environment' type of knife.

I am partial to the smaller blades as I don't have to worry about getting arrested/ticketed or carrying a blade bigger than the state allows. I believe 5" is the largest I can carry open - attached to a bag or clearly visible on a belt.

My two cents......not necessarily right just my preferences and opinions. Let me know if you have any other questions.
