New guy with question

You all are great for taking the time to give advice. From what I have learned, it seems to me that there is no single knife to do all that I ask. I pretty much figured that before I made my first post. So, that leaves me with eventually buying all the Beckers!!
Darn the luck. Now, I just have to convince my wife that I need them!
All the best, and God Bless America!! (especially now)

You are absolutely correct: there is no one knife that is perfect for all tasks, so you really will have to buy them all.:D

As you know, there are a number of great Becker's to choose from, and more on the way. My suggestion is to start with the BK-2, and go on from there. As for your wife, get her one of the new BK-5 magnum Camp's. She'll love it in the kitchen, and then she'll understand why you need the other Beckers; they're just great knives at a great price.

And I can't help but agree, especially now, God Bless America!

Semper Fi. Yes, I know that you were Air Force, but — to me — Semper Fidelis (always faithful) should apply to all Americans, not just we old Marines.

So that there is no confusion when I mentioned the Air Force. Actually, I spoke incorrectly. I am still active duty and have been so for the past 26 years. I am not a fighter. I am a dentist. I have been to the sandbox a couple of times but not outside the wire where the danger is. Although we had rocket attacks and could hear explosions outside the compound, I felt safe knowing that I was surrounded by our own big guns. The heros are the ones that go outside the wire. I have nothing but the absolute highest admiration for these men and women who do it every day because it's their job and they are professionals. I am only a small part of the support that these brave Americans deserve. And yes, I am nearing retirement. I have been ready to do so for several years but I still have that sense of patriotic duty the I can do something to contribute to the fight against terror and tryany. Semper fi DawsonBob and to all others that know about what I speak of.

BaldingEagle, just so there is no confusion about my thoughts on the matter: You, and many other like you around the globe, are serving your country each and every day, no matter what your job may be. The people who do go outside the wire wouldn't last for long without the support provided by you and others like you. Patriotism doesn't start or end at the wire, it starts with service in any capacity.

There is really no difference, as far as the importance of what you do, between you with a dentist's chair, or my Marines and I patrolling in a jungle (back in my day). They're simply different jobs, different parts of the whole.

You have my thanks and support, Sir.

Just so you know where I'm coming from; when I took my commissioning oath, I swore certain things. No one ever "unswore' me (not that they could), so I believe in those same things today.

God Bless America

Since you're a dentist, you'll understand this analogy about the BK2..... think canine cutting .... with molar power:thumbup:;) and don't forget to get one for your son....

dcbowtecher,
I'm a simple minded guy and you put it in terms that I can understand.
BTW. My previous base was Barksdale in Shreveport/Bossier.
Thanks
